data set is not only interesting, but it provides you with valuable research
leads as well. For example, learning your ancestor's "family number" will give
you a clue as to what order the houses were enumerated in the census.
By finding families with
"family numbers" close to yours, you can begin to picture who your ancestor's
neighbors were. Also, by finding individuals enumerated with the same "family
number," you can learn the names of the individuals who lived with your ancestor.
Please note: Family numbers
are searchable only on the CD-ROM version of this data set. They are listed
but not searchable through the online subscription.
