Massachusetts, 1600s-1800s Genealogical Records
About the Data
Referencing approximately 570,000 individuals and containing 24 volumes of vital records, family histories, passenger lists, military records, census data, and cemetery records, this collection provides an excellent cross-section of early Massachusetts genealogical data. Comprehensive in its coverage of Boston marriages from 1630-1809, Massachusetts Genealogical Records also contains Boston Births, Baptisms, Marriages, and Deaths, 1630-1699, believed to include every entry of birth, marriage, and death recorded in Boston during its first seventy years. Here you will also find census information for both 1790 and 1800, the first two taken in the United States; census documents contain more information about regular Massachusetts people than any other government records at that time. Overall, the largest portion of this work is designated to vital records (11 volumes). The depth and quality of information contained in Massachusetts vital records is more significant than any other state. Such vital records are of exceptional genealogical value in helping to confirm names, dates, and places. Copyright information for each volume can be found on its copyright page. If you wish to cite information found in one of this data set's volumes, we recommend using the following format: Author's Last Name, Author's First Name. "Book Title." Place of Publication: Publisher. Copyright Date. Page Numbers. Reproduced on Genealogy.com's Online Data Set #526 (Massachusetts Genealogical Records, 1600s-1800s).
