Genealogy.com Adds Millions of Additional Names
in Genealogy Records to Its Impressive Collection of Online Information
Company Significantly Broadens Its Online Family Research Offerings
by Adding Nearly Five Million Names to the Web with Internet Family Archives
March 28, 2000 (FREMONT, CALIFORNIA) Genealogy.com,
LLC today reinforced its commitment to making it easier for people
to find their ancestors fast on the Internet with its introduction
of Internet Family Archives. This collection of
data is being made available online for the first time and currently
includes nearly five million names in 11 different compiled resources.
Genealogy.com's movement of these records to an online format
signifies the company's commitment to bringing more valuable family
history information to a wider array of individuals via the Internet.
"We are in the business of helping people piece together their
family histories more quickly," said Genealogy.com Chief Executive
Officer, Rob Armstrong. "By continuing to place genealogically
relevant content online, like the Internet Family Archives, we
are making it easier and faster for people to find the vital family
information they need to build their family trees."
Conduct Family History Research from the Comfort of Home
Internet Family Archives make it easier and more convenient to conduct
research at home without having to spend money and time on traveling
to faraway libraries and dusty government archives. The power of the
Internet allows users to find ancestors fast, compared to the less efficient
way of researching by searching through microfilm or reading old books.
With the Internet Family Archives, research can be conducted from any
computer with Internet access, at any time.
The Internet Family Archives are composed of a variety of family history
information from marriage indexes to international records, from personal
family histories to biographies. Family history enthusiasts can search
everything from specific records such as the Mayflower Genealogies,
which may help them determine if they descended from a Mayflower passenger,
to searching historical marriage records in the Marriage Index of Massachusetts,
all from their own computer, 24 hours a day. With access to the Internet
Family Archives, users are able to create their own personal "online
data library" with records stored on Genealogy.com's secure network.
The Internet Family Archives currently contains the following titles:
