The information below will help you with these steps.

How to Sign Up As a User

  1. Start your Family Tree Maker software.
  2. Click the Online toolbar button to open your Web browser (you may also need to start a connection to your Internet Service Provider before starting Family Tree Maker).

If you click the Online button and nothing happens, it means that you have not set up a browser to work with Family Tree Maker. To set up a browser, re-install Family Tree Maker from the original CD-ROM using the instructions on the CD-ROM case. (Re-installing Family Tree Maker will not change or damage your existing Family Files in any way.) Be sure to choose a browser when you are asked to do so during the installation process.

Verifying Your User Identity

If you own Family Tree Maker version 3.4 or later and you have signed up as a user, we need to verify your user identity. We will ask you for your user name and password. If you don't know what they are, we can e-mail them to you at the e-mail address you used when you signed up as a user.
