Family Home Page Troubleshooting
To create and edit a user home page at Genealogy.com, you must:
- Sign up as a Genealogy.com user.
- Verify your Genealogy.com user identity.
The information below will help you with these steps.
How to Sign Up As a Genealogy.com User
This is different than registering your Family Tree Maker software. Even if
you have already registered your Family Tree Maker software, you must sign up
with FamilyTreeMaker.com so we can assign you a user number. This unique user
number ensures that you are the only one that can create and modify your home
page.
- Start your Family Tree Maker software.
- Click the Online toolbar button to open your Web browser
(you may also need to start a connection to your Internet Service Provider
before starting Family Tree Maker).
- FamilyTreeMaker.com will prompt you to register.
If you click the Online button and nothing happens, it means
that you have not set up a browser to work with Family Tree Maker. To set up a
browser, re-install Family Tree Maker from the original CD-ROM using the instructions
on the CD-ROM case. (Re-installing Family Tree Maker will not change or damage
your existing Family Files in any way.) Be sure to choose a browser when you are
asked to do so during the installation process.
Verifying Your FamilyTreeMaker.com User Identity
If you own Family Tree Maker version 3.4 or later and you have signed
up as a FamilyTreeMaker.com user, we need to verify your FamilyTreeMaker.com
user identity. We will ask you for your FamilyTreeMaker.com user
name and password. If you don't know what they are, we can e-mail
them to you at the e-mail address you used when you signed up as a FamilyTreeMaker.com
user.
You may also find this information helpful:
- When you wish to access your home page, use the same computer and Web browser
as when you signed up as a FamilyTreeMaker.com user, otherwise we will not
recognize you and will not let you create or edit a user home page.
- Be sure your browser is set up to accept cookies
and do not delete your cookie file. If you are concerned about cookie
usage, please learn
how and why we use cookies.

Are Not Recognized As an Online User for a more detailed explanation.
