84th Adams-McKain Family Reunion

21 People attended the 84th annual Adams-McKain Family Reunion on Sunday, 03 August 2003 at Marcellus High School in Marcellus, MI. Three branches of the Adams family were represented with families from MI, IN, TX, & ND attending.

George Adams, President, called the meeting to order. The officers elected are:
	President: George Adams
	Newsletter Editor: Jim Adams
	Secretary-Treasurer: Barbara Gale

The group decided to meet the second weekend of August 2004 on Saturday. George Adams will follow up and confirm a location.

George Adams presented the Secretary-Treasurer's report. A total of $361 was on hand to pay Barbara Gale for the 83rd reunion. The disbursements from 03 August 2002 to 02 Augusts 2003 were $147. The reunion paid Barbara in full which leaves $214 to start the 84th Reunion (03 August 2003).

120 newsletters were photocopied:	 	$49.61
119 letters were mailed: 			$71.65
Other supplies: 				$25.74
Total:						$147.00

The newsletter will continue to be distributed to people on the address roster. However, it is increasingly imperative to save as much money as possible. Therefore, it is strongly suggested to get the correct email or mailing address to Barbara Gale, or George & Jim Adams. The newsletter will be mailed if you do not have an email address. A $5.00 donation is suggested even if you get the newsletter emailed. Please make checks out to Barbara Gale.

The Van Buren Pictorial History Book is tentatively scheduled to be out in October 2003.
The 100th Adams-McKain Family Reunion will be in 2019 and we all need to work toward compiling our family data for all branches of the Horace Hale and Lorrainia G. Kinney family. We urge you to help in this worthwhile project and to volunteer to write the family history section for the next newsletter. Suggested topics include historical letters, diaries, other centennial farms in the family, etc. Barbara Gale needs the family history section by 01 April 2004 and other family news no later than 31 May 2004 for it to be published in the #12 newsletter in July 2004.

The Adams-McKain Family Reunion library has been in the home of Hyldred & Barbara Gale since 1942.

Hyldred (Adams) Gale was Secretary-Treasurer for 35 years. Hyldred & Barbara Gale for 6 years and Barbara Gale since 1985.

Francis Morse was the oldest family member in attendance and the youngest was Samuel Connor Adams (7 weeks), son of Todd & Rebecca Adams. Samuel's grandparents are Dan & Pam Adams. Samuel is a Horace Chester & Roxanna Arvilla (Bent) Adams descendant. Francis is the husband of Mildred Adams. 

Muriel Hurt of South Dakota traveled the farthest.

The meeting was adjourned with a reminder that the 85th Adams-McKain Family Reunion will be held the second weekend in August 2004.

A total of $84.00 was collected and the business meeting ended at 1:33 p.m.
