Houghton, Lyle K. CASSVILLE -

Lyle K. Houghton, age 71, of Cassville, died on Friday, June 18, 2004, at his home. He was born on March 21, 1933, in Beetown township, the son of Louis and Helena (Bast) Houghton.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 until 1956, and was stationed in Germany.

On Feb. 16, 1974, he married Lois Junk at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Cassville.

Lyle was a member of the Beetown American Legion Thorpe Taylor Post No. 551. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and most of all, his three grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Lois Houghton, Cassville; a son, Michael (Carrie) Houghton, Cross Plains; three granddaughters, Jenna, Allison and Kylie Houghton; a brother, Melvin Houghton, Cassville; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Goldie Hines; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alois and Sylvia Junk; a brother-in-law, Richard Junk; and two sisters-in-law, Karen Brown and Ruth Houghton.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 21, 2004, at 10:30 A.M. at the MARTIN PAGE FUNERAL HOME, Cassville, with the Rev. Ruth Ann Shriver officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Cassville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 P.M. until 7 P.M. on Sunday, June 20, 2004, at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service Monday morning. We will love and miss him forever.
