Robert Forester Proudfoot Aitchison arrived South Australia about 1865 aged 19 years,he was born 13th June 1845 Fogo Rig (or Ridge)County of Berick Scotland The first record of Robert Forester Proudfoot in the Mundoora area was when he married Caroline Blight b 8 Feb 1855 Sheoak Farm Gawler Plains, married 29 July 1875 at the home of her parents Francis & Mary nee Martin at Broughton Extention Keilli. Both buried Keilli Cemetery SA Haven't been able to find out where Robert Jun lived or worked before he came to Mundoora, which would have been 10 years, by his death certificate.Robert jun's father Robert sen & mother Agnes nee Brown also brother John arrived SA about 1871. Robert sen address when he took up land in the Pt Broughton, Mundoora area was Bagots Well. Robert sen & John took up land at Boucant & Condowie before both taking up land in Pt Broughton & Mundoora in 1877 then later Robert sen transfering sec 512 in July 1882 to son Robert jun. Robert sen Transfering sec 468w 1885 to William Aitchison not sure of relationship, John transfering sec 469in 1885 to William not sure of relationship. William & Margaret Aitchison nee Murray & 3 children arrived about 1879 same area Haven't been able to find how arrived or when. On 17 Aug 1904 Robert F.P. jun purchased sec 495n in Pt Broughton council area for 111 pounds 2 shillings & 6 pence then later sec 511n,513,& 540 Mundoora in Redhill council. Decendants of the above still farming these sections in 2001.
The following are shipping arrivals we beleive are of the Aitchison's above.
Berlington left Jan 7 1865 arrived May 2 1865 Adelaide from Plymouth. Aitchison Robert Shepherd E.Lothian Scotland 19 years old. Aitchison Jane Servant E.Lothian Scotland 22 years old.

Aitchison & Wife R 71/21 City of Adelaide arrived 20 Aug 1871.
Aitchison John R 71/21 City of Adelaide arrived 20 Aug 1871.
Haven't found any records of William & Margaret & 3 children's arrival, or of a Margaret Aitchison or what relation to the above arrived same area, she married William Dawson 27 July 1882.
Robert F.P. Aitchison jun was a good singer & had many gramaphones he recorded songs on a cylinder record. It was though singing that he met his wife Caroline who was also musical, Caroline played harmonium for Church "Zoar" Smithfield untill she was 17 years old when she migrated to Keilli.

In loving memory of Robert Aitchison. the beloved husband of Agnes Aitchison, who died at Penwortham on 1 May 1897 aged 79 years. Also Agnes. B.Aitchison beloved wife of above, who died 28 Dec 1899 aged 88 years.
Records Clare council Robert Aitchison NO of burial 429 Burial date 6 May Rev Milne No of grave 21/2 Situation Row ZZ.Last place of abode Penwortham. Agnes Aitchison No of Burial 460 Burial date 29 Dec Rev T.G.White No of grave 22 Situation Row ZZ, Last place of abode Condowie. John Aitchison signed Robert sen death certificate as his son. John married Catherine nee Roach Parents Paul & Susan Moon nee Trenouth no children.
Detail of land grants. Hundred of Boucaut Robert Aitchison sen section 242, acres 324, pine hut iron roof, 7 pounds 10 shillings Selection date 15 June 1875, 1 pound per acre , purchase completed June 1881. Robert Aitchison sen of Bagots Well Farmer Land grant section 521 situated Hundred of Redhill county of Daly containing 170 acres paid sum of 190 pounds 10 shillings on 26 April 1877. Robert also took up sec 495n on 27 Nov 1877, Transfering these to his son Robert jun in July 1882 at 3pm.Any help please to fill some gaps.Grace A.
