> Thank you for the files. The Word file was OK but I get a message that the FTW file is damaged, and it won't open.

> I think my Lanes link into your files, but I am trying to make that connection. My ggrandfather was John Gaut Lane, born 1845 in McMinn Co TN. His parents were John and Callie Lane. He is descended from Isaac Lane, b.1760 Pittsylvania Co VA, died 1851 McMinn Co TN. He was a revolutionary soldier and his grave was honored by the DAR. In the document I have recording the ceremony it lists Isaac as descended from Major Samuel Lane an officer in the King's service in Maryland in 1680. It says that Isaac's father was Rev. Tidence Lane. It says that Isaac and his six brothers fought in the battle of King's Mountain in the revolutionary war.
>
> Some genealogies list Isaac Lane's parents as John Fuller Lane and Sarah (or Elizabeth) Cloud.
>
> I think Isaac is most likely the great grandfather of John Gaut Lane based on the ages. He may have been the grandfather. Because both Isaac and John Gaut were in McMinn Co I presume all the connecting ancestors would be there as well. Any assistance would be most appreciated.

Hi Lessa
In the past six months I have done quite a bit of research on the Lane's and I have concluded that Isaac and Tidence were brothers, and the father was John Fuller Lane. The source of this error was Penelope Allen who wrote an article for the Chattanooga paper on the Lanes and later the book "Leaves from the family Tree". I think her error was picked up in the document I have. When she published her book she left out the Lane's because she knew she had made an error. This info is from a descendent of Penelope.

I apologize if my misinformation has caused you to put the error in your files. I will try to send you a scan of the document in a separate email.

I visited to the grave of Isaac Lane last summer, and it is in shocking condition. Most of the headstone is broken off, only one line of the inscription is still there, and it is in the middle of heavy brush.

Buried near Isaac is his daughter in law, my gg grandmother Parlee C Miller, wife of John Fuller Lane. I have been researching these Miller's lately. Do you know who Eldred Lane might be? He married Parlee's sister Armenia Miller 1843 and died in McMinn CO TN 1866. He was living near John F Lane in 1860 and was 39 years old.

Many thanks---Mark

Milly, Suggested that I email you, saying that you knew a lot about the
Lane line.

My cousin Carol Sass told me we were related to Baptist minister from Tenn.
with the last name of Lane. I got a little confused when I saw that
Elizabeth Lane married Joab Hill at one site and then I saw that Elizabeth
Lane married John Coudley in the information that Leah Heiden sent me.

My Mom was Dorothy Delia Gillette,
Her Mom was Rose Schwartz who married William Edgar(Edwin) Gillette,
His parents were Almon Cicero Gillette and Della Tucker,
his father was Almond Virgil Gillette who married Martha Louisa Hill,
her parents were Issac Hill and Elizabeth Fine,
his parents were Joab Hill, Colonel and Elizabeth Lane,
her parents was Isaac Lane and Sarah Russell,
his parents were John fuller lane and Elizabeth Cloud.

That's all I've got figured out so far. I'm still confused with how it
fits in with Tidence. If you know, then let me know. I'm not into it that
much.
I just wanted to see how far back I could go without too much difficulty.
If you can shed any light on what I've sent here, please hilight the name and
send any comments. I'm curious if Tidence Lane was able to pass on his
spiritual heritage to his descendants?

I live in the Seattle area.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Liz

Hi Lessa: Of the four I contacted only you responded the others were wrong addresses, I will have to get back with Liz to find out what happened.

It would help if I knew about what year Rachel m. Alexander Russell. I have a lineage chart that Liz sent to me from Janet White her e-mail address is JanetWhite@compurserve.com. It notes that mail should be sent to dlytton@rimenet.com , I have never contacted any of these people so I do not know what response you will have.

Liz's and my lineage from the Lanes' ; Samuel Lane son of Richard Lane and Alice Carter; Samuel m. Margaret Maulden--son Dutton Lane who m. Pretitia Tydings---- Richard Lane m. Sarah Fuller ---Tidence Lane m. Esther Bibbins---Issac Lane m Sarah Russell (dau. Thomas Russell)---Elizabeth Lane m. Joab Hill: Hill's to Gillettes; Issac Hill m. Elizabeth Fine--- Martha Louise Hill m. Almon virgil Gillette--Almon Cicero m. Delia W. Tucker---William Edgar m. Rose Mable Schwarz ---Jean Bernice Gillette m. Lawerence L. Cline ---Rebecca. Liz's mother was Dorothy Delia Gillette. I forgot to list a few Gillette's from this list.

The name Russell comes back into the lineage of the three Hill sisters. Martha Louise Hill Gillette/ Ann Hazeltine Hill Russell/Mary Minerva Hill Dunn. They lived in what is now Ashland Oregon, back 1850's I believe. I have two books written by the sisters and it has been along time since I have read them. I hope that this gives us a place to connect with the family lineage. Imagine if we all got together what a family of decendents we would make. Get back to me when you can,

Becky
