Jenny Christa Butcher moved to Mason City, Iowa, about 1908. She was a
professional cellist. Her second husband, Joseph Maurice Power, was a
professional violinist. They traveled on the vaudeville circuit, and
also played in orchestras. They moved to Beltsville, Maryland, around
1938, after my father had moved to Washington, DC. They bought a house
in Beltsville, and turned it into a tourist home called Pinehurst.
Evaline Butcher (then widowed) moved to Beltsville with them, but died
in Kansas in the home of her sister Edith.
