It has been assumed that Swinfield was born in Grayson Co., Va. He did go to Grayson Co. and live there when he became of adult age, where he married his wife, Elizabeth "Betsy" Delp in 1827. Also it seems that Swinfield and James both moved to Grayson County about the same time.
