Notes for DANIEL HETZLER:

The S.E. 1/4 Sec. 22 which was the George Hetzler farm became the homestead on which Daniel and Anna Eliza reared their children and farmed. When the children had all grown up and left, the old folks were unequal to caring to the old Browns Run Farm, and therefore sold it about 1890. They bought a small place about one mile out of Germantown, on the Farmersville Pike.

Ouote from "The Hetzler Family":

"He is remembered by his numerous grandchildren, all but three of whom are still living, as a kindly, quiet, sweetsmiling, whitehaired gentleman of the old school. One of the precious memories of the writer, their grandson (Glen Robert Hetzler), is the sight of this patriarchal couple, Grandmother was a woman of striking size and countenance, driving in their open phaeton down the streets of Germantown, in the late 1890's. A stranger would have stopped to take a second look, and admire a sort of grandeur reminiscent of earlier generations. Anna Eliza lived until 1913, when she was 91 years old. She had a remarkable mind, as well as physique."

Footnote: "Grandmother" Hetzler was unable to walk for the last fourteen years of her life because of a broken hip.
