DeGasperis derives from the Latin "de" meaning of and "Gasparus" meaning the personal name Gaspare. Gasparus being a derivative from the Persian Gathaspar, meaning "bright" or "brilliant". An ancient Persian astrologer, and keeper of sacred things was one of the three "Wise Men"(aka Magi), that followed a "bright" star to Bethlehem.They were Gaspar, Melchior & Balthasar.
