GOLDEN YEARS ENTERED Mr. and Mrs.. E. W. THORINGTON greeted more than 200 friends and relatives at their 50th wedding anniversary reception Saturday evening at White Temple First Baptist Church. A delightful entertainment, "This Is Your Life" was presented for the honor pair by their children and grandchildren College Place Lions and auxiliary surprised the couple by entering in full dress regalia to sing them a song. President Clarence Reynolds spoke briefly in congratulation The tiered cake, baked by Norman Klappenbach, was served by Mmes. Frank Cattanack and Dan Bogle from a table adorned with gold roses, gold satin bows and candelabra. Those assisting in the serving were Mrs.. Dallas THORINGTON and Parn of BeUevue; Mmes. William Huff, Jerry Hendrickson, Norman Klappenbach, Kenneth Knowles, Lee Terry, Chico Hicks, and Charlie Soukup. Coming from out of town were Mr. and Mrs.. Charles THORINGTON, Long Beach, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs.. Ted THORINGTON and Michael, Kahlotus; Mr. and Mrs.. Laurence Dahlin, Mapleton, Ore.; Mr. and Mrs.. Carl Bower, Eugene; Mrs.. Ves Wood, David and Karen and Douglas Wood, Hood River; and Bruce Brown, Bellevue For a dinner served Sunday evening to 35 relatives, the patio and garden of the THORINGTON home in College Place similated a French sidewalk cafe, with bright awnings and an Eiffel tower in the background.

IVAN ISLEY
LeRoy C. Isley passed away Oct. 3, 1999, in Walla Walla, Wash. He was born Nov. 20, 1916 in Joseph, the son of LeRoy G. and Ethel V. (Scott) Isley.

He lived in Joseph until 1947.

Ivan was preceded in death by sister, Lela Colpitts; two brothers, Willis Isley, and Wilber Isley.

He is survived by wife Peggie Ann of Walla Walla; daughter Darlene Griffin of Pasco, Wash.; four sons, Wayne of Post Falls, Idaho, Ivan of Spokane, Wash., Rockey Joe of Lacey, Wash., and Russell of Walla Walla, Wash.

Services are to be held at Herring Funeral Home in Walla Walla, Wash. On Thursday, Oct. 7, at 11:00 a.m.

SUCK IT IN: When Olympia coach Rockey Isley coached the Goodwill team in 1992, he wrestled Rulon Gardner, the 2000 super heavyweight gold medalist.

Isley, who was an Olympic hopeful in the 1960s, wrestled Gardner every day, despite giving up 50 pounds to the massive Gardner. Isley had one request.

"I told him to suck in his chest so I could get my arms around him," Isley said.

MR. AND Mrs.. ROCKEY ISLEY Rockey ISLEY Claims Dotty Rais as Bride Married Oct. 11 at the Veteran's Hospital Chapel were Dotty Rais and Rockey J. ISLEY, 'both of Walla Walla. The bride is the daughter of Mrs.. Margaret Rais and Mr. Wesley E. Rais, also of Walla Walla. Fall colors of gold, rust and green carried out the theme for the afternoon nuptials performed by Chaplain James H. Dennis. Mrs.. Robert S. Cronn (Dagmar) was her sister's matron of honor and Wayne ISLEY, brother of the groom from Pasco, was best man. Ushers were Ivan ISLEY, another brother of Kennewick, and Stan Brabinski of Walla Walla.

BRENDA AND RUSSELL ISLEY Isley-Johnson Newlyweds Russell and Brenda Isley are making their home at 921 E. Alder St. following their wedding Aug. 14 and wedding trip to Disneyland, Calif., and Hawaii. Isley and the former Brenda Johnson exchanged wedding vows Aug. 14 at the First Church of God. The groom is the son of LeRoy and Peggy Isley, Route 2. The bride is the daughter of Clifford and Shirley Johnson, 538 Balm St. Both young people are graduates of Walla Walla High School. The groom works for Cascade Airways Inc. The bride works for the A W Restaurant. Officiating at their wedding ceremony was the Rev. Frank La Font. Organist was Cathi Brickford. Vocalist was Anne Fine. The bride's honor attendant was Linda Johnson, her twin sister. Bridesmaids were LaRae Johnson, Cindy Johnson and Dawn Tucker. Attending the groom were Tom Jameson, Norm Conaway, Don Plucker and Grant Hookins. Flower girl was Trade Griffin. Ringbearer was Wayne John Isley, Jr.. Ivan Isley and Dan Johnson were ushers. The newlyweds were honored at a reception at the church. Assisting were Marion Johnson, Darlene Griffin, Sue Isley, Corleen Cunnington, Sonja Phillips, Sheri Mize and Becky Chadek. The bride wore a Chantilly-lace gown that featured a ruffled scoop neckline and a full skirt with tiered lace ruffles ending in a cathedral-length train. Her caplet headpiece held a Chantilly- lace-edged tiered veil. She carried a handmade lace han- dkerchief that belonged to her great-great-grandmother.
