      9. Elizabeth Larimore88, born November 08, 1812 in Missouri Territory89; died January 27, 1891 in Galesburg, IL89. She was the daughter of 18. Rev. Richard Larimore and 19. Mary Benningfield.

Obituary.
MAXWELL-James Maxwell was born in Indiana, Apr. 9, 1810, and died at the home of his son, Richard Maxwell, in Hampton, Sept. 29, 1895, aged 85 years, 5 months and 26 days. Mr. Maxwell moved with his parents to Kentucky in 1819, and from Kentucky to Sangamon county, Ill. in 1822, and to Knox county in 1837. For the past twenty years he has been making his home among his children. He married Miss Elizabeth Lonemore [sic] in about 1830, to which union was born sixteen children, nine of whom with the wife passed on before. The surviving children are: - Mrs. Mary Bryant, of Henry county, Mo.; Henry Maxwell, Jasper county, Ia.; Richard Maxwell, Hampton; James Maxwell, San Jose, Cal.; Mrs. Harriet Ferman, Hampton; Mrs. Christina Clinton, Henry county, Mo. and Benjamin Maxwell, of Illinois. Mr. Maxwell has a large circle of grandchildren and great grandchildren. He served in the Black Hawk war under Capt. McMurtrie, and has been a member of the Baptist church since 1878. Funeral services were held in Hampton on Tuesday, Rev. J. A. Alford officiating. Interment will take place in Knox county at North Henderson.

Another obituary reads in part:
He served in 1832 in the Black Hawk war and was a very interesting gentleman to talk with regarding pioneer days. He was the father of sixteen children, seven of whom survive him. He had been a member of the Baptist church since 1878. The funeral took place from the Methodist church Tuesday at 10 o'clock, after which the remains were shipped to Henderson, Knox county, for interment. The pallbearers were Peter Cewe, Manuel Smith, Fred Chick, John Robeson, Gus Haywood and Thomas Baily.

Jim Sanderlin wrote, "I learned something about my ancestor, Hattie Maxwell Ferman, that shocked me. In 1905, she divorced her husband William. It said that he had deserted her 12 years before. I had no idea that this happened. I
think that her second marriage to John Littlefield in 1914 also ended in
divorce."

WAR VETERAN IS TAKEN BY DEATH - Richard Maxwell, Formerly Known as
Lamplighter, Is Called at Hampton.

Hampton, Feb. 25- Richard Maxwell, who was wounded in the Civil War
and suffered all his life from the wound, died at his home at 9 this
morning. He was 81 years old and was very well known in this community.
For many years Mr. Maxwell was known as the lamplighter. He served
as a government employee in lighting lamps placed at the river piers to
guide steamboats.
Mr. Maxwell was a pioneer in this community and was known as a
hunter and fisherman, many Hampton people purchasing fish and game from
him.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Hiram Whitehead and Mrs.
E.B. LaGrange of Hampton, and Mrs. Nellie Johnson, superintendent of
night nurses in Watertown state hospital. There are also a son, James of
Hampton; a sister Mrs. Hattie Ferman of East Moline, two brothers James
Maxwell of California and Benjamin of Kansas; ten grandchildren and
three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Maxwell died five years ago.

MAXWELL FUNERAL TO BE TOMORROW

Hampton, Feb. 26- Funeral services for Richard Maxwell, Hampton Civil
war veteran who died early yesterday morning, will be at 2 tomorrow
afternoon in the Methodist church with the Rev. Norman Rostran
officiating. Burial will be in the local cemetery. Members of the
women's auxiliary of the Sons of Veterans will attend in a body.
