Geraldine Austin Dillard
ROANOKE - Geraldine Austin Dillard, 72, of Roanoke passed away
Saturday, Feb. 6, 1999.
A native of Lynchburg, she was an area resident for the past 52 years. She
was a member of Williamson Road Church of the Brethren and a member of
Rosewood Garden Club. Mrs. Dillard was an active participant with Meals
on Wheels and Williamson Road Action Forum. Warren and Geraldine
organized and headed the Army Reunion 405th AAA Gun Battalion for the
past 25 years.
She was the coordinator of the “We Care” Program and was a Deacon at
her church, where she served on numerous boards and committees.
She was also a past president of the Round Hill PTA.
She is survived by her husband, Warren E. Dillard; son and daughter-in-law,
Glenn W. and Piper Dillard, Roanoke; daughters and son-in-law, Joann
Dillard Mattingly, Arlington, Nancy D. and Ron Pendleton, Ashboro, N.C.
Also surviving are her brothers, Joseph E. Austin, Dallas, Texas, Cecil E.
Austin, Lynchburg; sisters, Lois A. Krinisky, Seneca, S.C., Helen A.
Franklin, Concord, Jean A. Mayberry, Emma A. White, Arlene A. Farrar, all
of Lynchburg; grandchildren, Staff Sgt. Kevin P. Mattingly, USAF, Third
Class Petty Officer Tyler Pendleton, USN, Christian R. Pendleton, Austin G.
Dillard, Darby M. Dillard.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 9, 1999 at 4 p.m. at
Williamson Road Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. Michael L. Hostetter
officiating.
The family will receive friends today, from 7-9 p.m. at the church.
Arrangements by Oakey’s North Chapel.
