Auty Crest used by Richard Hatt Auty

Auty Crest used by Richard Hatt Auty
The original crest of the Auty Family was used by Richard Hatt Auty. This was used from around 1865 till 1916 when Richard Hatt Auty died. Richard had used this crest in offical business until he died. It is not known when the actual crest came into being. But you will note the fleur de lee representing our ties with France. The story in the family is that our family came over with the Huguenots in the year 1685 with the Revocation of the Edit of Nates. When they drove thousands Protestants(Huguenots) out of France. I was told by my Aunt Ettie that we arrived in Canterbury in Kent as weavers. What I have found on my research is that we moved to Hague Moor, Woodkirk,Yorkshire then in 1801 or 2 we had moved to Southgate,Middlesex. By this time we had become Brewers and Carpentars. But as far as proving we came over with the Huguenots,I have not been able to prove or disprove this theory out. I have only gone back to 1645 in Hemsworth,Yorkshire. A further search is required to find out where Thomas Auty came from originally in 1685. We believe that Joshua Senior changed his name to Auty and that Martha Auty was the daughther of Thomas Auty. The original Auty Crest is held by Lucie Nottingham the daughter of Charles Harley Auty. The Crest itself is over 100 years old. Origin of the above is by Russell Percival AutyGreat Grandson of Richard Hatt Auty. Links:www.rpauty.supanet.com
