6. MIRIAM³ ROSEN (RIVKA² MEDNICK, SCHMUEL¹) was born August 22, 1912 in Shirvint Lithuania. She married GUSTAVE BARSHEFSKY December 29, 1935 in Chicago IL, son of MEYER BARSHEFSKY and ROCHEL KRACHEVSKY. He was born March 30, 1912 in Poland, and died March 12, 1995 in St. Petersburg FL.

Notes for MIRIAM ROSEN:
Shy as a child. Because father was a Cantor and took posts here and there, never stayed in one place (in US) long enough as a kid to develop many friends. After moving to Chicago in 1928, her mother said, "We're not moving from Chicago." Miriam taught in the Chicago Public Schools.

Lived in Ivye, Poland. Father was a Cantor there.

Rabbinical student; Professional Engineer, specializing in wood and forest products.

Marriage Marriage Notes for MIRIAM ROSEN and GUSTAVE BARSHEFSKY:
They met in Chicago, through Bessie Siegel. Her father was the Executive Director of Gus's Yeshiva, Hebrew Theological College (HTC) on Douglas Blvd., Chicago. Gathered every Friday night as Siegel's home for an oneg. They met at one of these. First date was Junior Prom at Crane High School. Took street car to Crane, arriving very early, before sundown. Dad went into the gym where the dance was to be held an stood in a corner and dahvened. They danced all night and then walked home to Millard Ave. The walk was from Jackson and Oakley to Millard and 15th, a total of about 3.5 miles, at about midnight. Lots of people walking around (who had cars in those days?), everyone felt safe.

7. ANNE SELMA³ SIEGEL (ESTHER CHAYA² MEDNICK, SCHMUEL¹) was born 1904 in Shirvint, Lithuania, and died February 1964 in Chicago, IL. She married DAVID HARRY WEISSMAN 1930 in Chicago IL. He was born 1889 in Polotsk, Belorus, Russia, and died 1972 in Chicago, IL.
