2. SOCHOR2 ROSEN (MORDECHAI1) was born 1883 in Myshnitz, Lomze Gubernia, Poland, and died 1955 in Chicago, IL. He married RIVKA MEDNICK, daughter of SCHMUEL MEDNICK and SARAH. She was born 1886, and died May 31, 1978 in St. Petersburg, FL.

OCHOR ROSEN:
Was a Cantor on the Lower East Side of NY when emigrated to the US in 1921. Then took posts in New Haven CT, Troy NY, and Springfield MA before coming to Chicago IL in 1928.

The Rosen family in the US brought Sochor and his family over. Immigration was closing. They had to get an affidavit saying that some Shul needed a Cantor, so Sochor would be seen as having a job when he arrived here.

AMUEL SILBERBERG:
Emigrated c. 1912 to evade being drafted in the Czar's army. Family bribed
officials to get him a passport. First job on Lower East Side working in a
restaurant, later became a cook and befriended Boris Thomachefsky (sp?)
then a star of the Yiddish theatre. Later entered the needle trades, opened
his manufacturing and retail shop that made and sold women's cloaks.
The business prospered, and at times, Samuel employed Hilda's brothers Leo,
William and Morris, and cousin Clement Rosen. Samuel later sold the
business and went into real estate.
