Laura Birtles (Wood) (daughter of Issac Birtles and Mary Ann Garside) was born 20 Nov 1870 in 2 Court, Rankin Street, Toxteth Park, Liverpool, and died 27 May 1959 in Tooting Bec Hospital, Tooting, London. She married George Wood.
Notes for Laura Birtles (Wood): Laura Birtles (Wood) had her daughter Vera illegitimately but no one knew who the father was. She used the name Wood in later life and on the death certificate is known as "Laura Wood otherwise Laura Birtles". 19 03 05. I have just found Vera Wood on the 1901 census. She was a visitor at a house in liverpool. She also had a sister called Elsie who was a year younger than her. Could Laura have been at work and had childminders? It also tells me why Veras daughter was called Elsie. I had always wondered where the name had come from as no one else in the family had that name. No one has ever mentioned Elsie including my mother so I think she must have died very young. I have just found out that she died in 1901 aged three. Now I know why my mother never mentioned her.
