Howard E. Grounds (his grandson) gives his name as Pleasent Ground, although other records spell it as Pleasant.

"Vada Howell Ground's mother was married more than once. She was a Smith when I knew her. We always called her Mammy Smith. I remembre she had a large goiter. Vada had a brother that I know of named Newt."

Havana, IL - Robert Gale "Bud" Ground, 66, of Manito, IL died Thursday at his home. The Warren County native was a World War II veteran, a member of Spring Lake Sportsman's Club and Goofy Ridge Sportsman's Club. He was the son of the late Henry and Mary Wood Ground. Graveside service was Saturday at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana, IL. Hurley Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include several neices and nephews.
