Joseph Haydon
Palmyra, Mo., Sept. 7 -- Funeral services for Joseph Haydon, 49, who was found dead in his store at Lebanon Monday, were held Wednesday at Lebanon. Mr. Haydon, a native of Palmyra, had been in ill health several years.

Mr. Haydon was born Sept. 14, 1914, at Hannibal, a son of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Haydon of Palmyra. He left here at an early age. He was married to Ruth Kinnett of Lebanon.

Surviving are his widow; two children, three brothers, Richard of Palmyra, Jack B. of Caseyville, Ill., and Daniel of North Hollywood, Cal., and a sister, Mrs. Virginia Englehardt of Champaign, Ill.

Mrs. Lula Rice Dies in Hannibal

Hannibal, Mo., March 11 --Funeral services for Mrs. Lula Rice, 69, of 1008 Center will be held Monday afternoon at 2 in First Christian church. Dr. Kenneth A. Kuntz will officiate. Burial will take place in Greenwood cemetery at Palmyra.

Mrs. Rice died yesterday morning at 3 in her home, following an illness of two years. She formerly was employed 16 years by Klines department store, retiring two years ago. She lived in Hannibal 50 years.

Born Jan. 22, 1893 at Palmyra, she was a daughter of Rufus and Medora Miller Haydon. She was a member of First Christian church. Her marriage to George A. Rice took place Jan. 22, 1911 in South Side Christian church here. They were the first couple to be married in the church after its construction. Mr. Rice died in 1960.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Willard (Dorothy) Patterson of Rushville, Mrs. Drennan (Shirley) Davis of Bunker air force base, Peru, Ind., and Mrs. Edward (Marjorie) Smith of Hannibal; two brothers, Oscar and Rufus Haydon of Palmyra; a half brother, Paul Haydon of St. Louis; eight grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Three brothers preceded her in death.
