Notes for WILSON JOSEPH SCHRECK:
Wilson Schreck lived variously in Falmouth, Lexington, Louisville, and Shelbyville in Kentucky, and Miami, Ft. Meyers, and Moose Haven in Orange Park, Florida.

At the time of a major influenza epidemic in 1917 or 1918, he became seriously ill with the flu while doing construction work at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

In the 1920 census, he is shown as working as weighmaster at a tobacco warehouse in Falmouth, Kentucky. He at one time sold Model T Fords for a local car dealer, and served as both a rural and city mail carrier at Falmouth. He assumed a similar position in Miami, Florida in 1925, and moved his family there.

He took up carpenter work on the construction of the Port of Miami, not being satisfied with wages at the post office. A 1926 hurricane wiped out the boom in Miami and the Schrecks returned to Falmouth, where they operated a small hotel for a time. Wilson then became a partner in the Refiner's Oil distributorship in Falmouth.

When Refiner's was acquired by Standard Oil, the distributorship closed and the family went to Shelbyville, where Wilson worked as an employee of Standard. After a year, the office closed and they moved to Lexington, where he continued working for Standard.

During World War II, he returned to carpentry and worked on government construction jobs including sites at Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Huntsville, Alabama, Denver, Colorado, and Jeffersonville, Indiana. He returned to Louisville, where he resumed carpentry work.

In a few years, he retired to Miami, Florida. He was active in the Moose Lodge in Florida, and when his health failed, he and Ora moved to Moose Haven in Orange Park, Florida.
