Notes for RUTH EILZABETH GROUNDS:
After her son survived the sinking of the Lexington, Ruth wanted to join her son and nephews in the service. Ruth joined the WAACs and in 1984 was acknowledged the oldest WAAC in the Pacific Northwest and has been honored several times by American Legion and VFW. In 1984, she lived in Everett, Washington.

She was a direct descendant of the Mayflower passengers, John Tilly and his wife, Bridget Van de Veld.
