According to Dianne Stark Thurman, Nancy Ellen Goodnight was b. 19 Jul 1855 and married -- Lakey, who d. 30 Jul 1926

According to Plymouth Rock to the Pacific, Mullenneix, Nancy Ellen Goodnight was married to -- Brown.

On the 1880 census, Nancy Ellen Tye is living with her parents in Tarrant County, Texas, with two small children, J. J. Tye, age 4M, and B. Mercer, 6/12M. Her relationship is listed as D (daughter), but the children are listed as NP (nephew?), but listed beneath Nancy Ellen, who is not listed in age order with the rest of her brothers and sisters, but at the end of the family.

Rosemary Filyaw's family tree at Family TreeMaker website posts the following for Nancy Ellen Goodnight:

Therefore, Rosemary's three marriages seem logical.

Originally, I had only an initial B. for this child. "Ernest" comes from Rosemay Filyaw. Since the approximate date of birth was the same, and Rosemary had no additional children, I am assuming there was only one child.

"Notes from Robert Adams:

"My grandfather, William Mitchell Goodnight, came to Tarrant County, Texas, when he was about two years old (1867) and grew up a short distance from the cattle activities on the Chisholm Trail. He is said to have lived with some of the Indians and probably worked some of the trail drives before turning up on a ranch in the Panhandle in his twenties.

"Grandfather Bill Goodnight showed up as a cowboy in the 1880s working for a ranch headquartered out of White Deer, Texas, where he met and married Eula Henson in 1893 in Panhandle. He rode on trail drives from the Texas Panhandle to Montana. (Robert has in his possession the gun belt that his grandfather used.)

"In 1900, after the birth of Harrison Goodnight, they moved to the ranch of Eula's brother, Jim Henson, on the Palo Duro Creek near the present town of Spearman, Texas. When William had to leave to freight their supplies from Channing with a six-mule team and wagon, his wife and children stayed home alone. Rattlesnakes, coyotes, sickness, and hard living were encountered. They moved to Guymon in 1903, going in covered wagons. It took two days to make the trip.

"Bill Goodnight ran a dray line in Guymon and later worked on the Amarillo police force while Louie Ann Goodnight went to Business School in Amarillo. All of the range cowboys had a struggle to settle into the business world after the cattle drives phased out.

"William died of a stroke in 1932."

In notes from Robert Adams, he stated that Harrison was named after the ranch manager at White Deer. He married but had no children. He wanted to be a cowboy, but they were a vanishing breed as he grew up. He was a pharmacist and had a drug store in Ulysses, Kansas, and worked with the Cottrell drug store in Plains occasionally. He died in Ulysses. Robert never heard any later news of his wife.

Robert Adams states that Jack married but had no children. He worked in drug stores in Guymon and Ulysses and after he got out of the Army at the end of World War II, he drove a trailer rig until his health failed. He died of diabetes."
