Notes for EDWIN THEODORE GROUNDS, SR.:
The obituary of Edwin Theodore Grounds, Sr. states that he and wife, Synobia, were the founders of Valley Housekeeping and Janitorial Service and died on cancer at Eden Hospital Medical Center, Castro Valley, California. He was 56.

Born in Los Angeles, he lived in Camano Island, Washington the last couple of years. Prior to that, he lived in the Dublin, California, area. While operating his own business, he concurrently worked for Peters Trucking Lines for 25 years.

He gained national media attention in 1983 when he tracked down his younger brother, Ron Lyon, of Washington after being separated for 48 years. The Grounds moved to Washington in 1986 to retire and live closer to Ron, but he soon went to work for another trucking company. He was diagnosed with cancer in 1987.

He was a CB radio enthusiast and was a charter member of the Valley Professional Talkers CB radio club. He was also a member of Teamsters Local 70. His wife said he liked to fish and bowl and was kind to his children, as well as any stray animal or child that came to their home for help.

He was survived by his wife, brother Ron, three sons, Richard E. Grounds of Concord, Edwin T. Grounds Jr. of Dublin, and Joseph Butler of San Bernardino; and nine daughters, Tania Pickett of Utah; Bonnie L. Grounds of Yucca Valley; Sharon G. Mobley of Dublin; Maxine Grounds of Canada, Della K. Randall of Dublin; Theresa A. Butler of Dublin; Rebecca J. Quitana of Grass Valley; Janice C. Citi of Manteca; and Geina Harris of Washington. He also is survived by a sister, Delores White, of Spokane, Washington, 21 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

(Note: Joseph Butler and Theresa Butler are new to me; Della Randal, Janice Citi and Geina Harris also. Rebecca Quintana is assumed to be "Becky" Quintara, daughter of Lila Mary Quintara. Do not know relationship with the other five.)

Funeral services at Valley Christian Center in Dublin. Cremation, ashes scattered at sea. Family requests donations to Hope Hospice in Dublin.
