Mary Jereene Hooks Hardesty graduated Texas Tech, a major in elementary educaton and taught in the Venice public schools in Johnson County, Texas for three years. From 1921-1922, she taught in Bowie County, Texas before going to Abernathy, Texas, where she taught until she retired 31 May 1960. She became a substitute teacher in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and in all, taught more than 40 years.

Rev. Paul Miller was a minister of the Assemblies of God Church for 40 years. After retiring, he was an engineer with the Colorado Division of Wildlife in Montrose, Colorado. Funeral services were held at Swanlaw Funeral Home with Rev. Don Steiger officiating. Entombment was in the Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Annabel Garvin Buell, a longtime Texas school teacher, died Sunday at an Arlington nursing home. She was 94.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at First Baptist Church of Roanoke, where she had been a member. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Roanoake. Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Buell was born in Midlothian and moved to Arlington in 1983. She previously had been a resident of Pilot Point for 25 years and of Boerne for 10 years.

Mrs. Buell had been a teacher for the Boerne Independent School District in Kendall County, near San Antonio, Roanoke Indpeendent School District and Bergheim Common School District, also in Kendall County. She taught for about 30 years. She was the first kindergarten teacher in Pilot Point, teaching there from 1964 to 1974.

Mrs. Buell was a member of First Baptist Church of Midlothian, and had taught Sunday school there. She was a former member and Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Churches in Roanoke, Pilot Point and Boerne.

Mrs. Buell was the widow of Erwin Clyde Buell, Sr.

Survivors include three sons, Frank Buell of Hurst, Richard Buell of Carrollton, and Paul Buell of Sioux Falls, SD, two daughters Irene Kelly of Midlothian and Ada Starrett of Arlington; one sister Eunavae Brigman of Hot Springs, Ark.; 26 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Upon the death of Otis Ground, Wesley Mullenneix wrote in the Ground Family Newsletter: "Otis will be greatly missed by the Ground family as he and Mary played a large part in compiling the information of the Ground family of Texas. Otis made so many long distance telephone calls and Mary wrote a great numbr of letters. We (Wes and wife Claire) were privileged to spend a numbr of days at their home in December 1983 while in Fort Worth. Although we had never met, we knew them by lettr and received a very warm welcome to their home. Otis was happiest when he was helping someone, and his family was very important to him. I am at a loss for words to honor this gentle and kind man who I am very pround to call my cousin. Otis was ill for a long while and the unfolding of the family tree helped him to pass many of his shut-in hours. He was a Christian of the highest order, and I will never forget him."
