Notes for N
ATHAN BOYDSTUN:
Nathan Boydstun appears on the following census:
      1840 - Neshoba Co, MS, p. 128

Nathan Boydstun appears in Neshoba County, Mississippi on tax rolls in 1841 and 1845.

Erna Evans (HeyVirgil@aol.com) writes 30 Jul 1999 with a different date of birth for Nathan -- 30 Nov 1796. The date of 30 Apr 1808 comes from Gladys Domonoske's book, and, according to Erna, also appears in some LDS records, which also list the date as being 1794. The date of 30 Nov 1796 comes from a book by Dr. Oliver C. Weaver, Jr. of Birmingham, Alabama.

Erna points out that there is a 12 year gap between Syntha (1792) and Levi (1804). Other siblings listed had unknown dates of birth and could fit into this slot, as could Nathan if he was born in 1796.

She also has death year as 1889, and marriage date as 30 Dec 1837 to Sarah Allen Lloyd.

Her family outline on the internet provides much of the lineage of James Shumate and Mary Elizabeth Boydston. Note that Erna also spells Nathan and his children "Boydston," while Domonoske had "Boydstun." I have changed the spelling for the children, but not for the father, as his name appears in Neshoba County records spelled "Boydstun." Her dates of birth vary for the children from previous information and those variances have been noted at each child.

Erna Evans lived in August 1999 at 918 Maplewood Avenue, Anniston, AL 36207-4147.

Notes for J
OHN GARDNER BOYDSTUN:
After the death of John G. Boydstun in 1847, his second wife, Malinda Shirley went to Warren County, Illinois, where she is found on the 1850 census. His son John Riley lived with J.R.'s grandmother, Nancy Ann Gardner Boydstun, where he is found at age 16. James Berry went to live with his neighbor and cousin, Henry Ground (who married Eliza Boydstun). It is not known where Louisa Jane lived.

US Census 1840 - Calloway Co, KY
Boydstun, John G.
males 0-1-1-0-0-1
females 1-1-0-0-0-1

Some information on this family obtained from Kentucky Historical Society files letter of Edith Moore, 1962.

Page 215 of Gladys Domonoske's book contains records which are apparently from the Bible of William Thomas Boydstun. They list:
John Green Boydstun b. 1863 - d. July 31, 1897.

John G. Boydstun d. on 31 July, but not in this year, and was not born in 1863. On the same page are 1850 Census records of Knox County, IL which are completely inaccurate. In 1985, I compared the same with the microfilm and found that all the ages were incorrect.

Since the manuscript is typed, perhaps Gladys was tired at this point. Regardless, I question the dates on the entire page.

This found in Barren County, KY Mortgage Book No. 1, 1829-1833 and appears to relate to this John Boydston, as there is no other that it seems to be possible to connect to:

Boydston to Jameson - Mortgage, page 146

Notes for B
ENJAMIN FRANKLIN BOYDSTUN:
Information on this family comes from:

"The Boydstun-Boydston Family" by Gladys Domonosky, p. 240-247

"The Boydstun Family" by Gustine Weaver (transcribed copy of the family Bible of Benjamin F. Boydstun in in this book)

Cemetery Records, Rockwall County, Texas. This cemetery is located behind the First Baptist Church on Highway 205 in Rockwall, Texas.

Descendants in 1927 lived in Rockwall, Texas, Baird Texas, and Kent, Washington.

Additional information on descendants was obtained from the Smith-Duckworth lineage published on GenWeb in 1997, Presley Smith, compiler.

The family records of Chuck Boydstun have a different birth date -- that of 21 May 1811. David Smith also shows this date of birth.

Benjamin F. Boydstun was the first school teacher at Rockwall, Texas, and taught there many years. According to Gustine Weaver's book, he owned a large tract of land 12 miles square, which now comprises the county of Rockwall. Apparently, however, he was a surveyor whose name appears on many deeds in the county, and this is not accurate.

NOTE: Rockwall County was formed from Kaufman County, Texas in 1873.

Benjamin F. Boydston is found on page 48 of the 1870 Kaufman County, Texas, Census.

Also found on the same census on page 48 is William T. Boydston (brother of Benjamin F.) and Jos. D. Boydstun (?).
