ANCY ADELINE GLADDEN:
From Rochelle Wright

I can tell your their daughter Nancy Adeline Gladden b August 08, 1841 in Platte City, Platte County Missouri died April 22, 1933 in Clinton CO Missouri, married into the BERRY (old movie stars) family.

Nancy Gladden Beery lived with Isaac B. Baker and her daughter Elizabeth Beery Baker on their farm, she Nancy, was blind but was regaining her sight before she died. Her parents had slaves, and she hated Abe Lincoln for freeing the slaves.

Nancy use to tell her g grandchildren her family knew Lincoln in Tennessee. She use to sing a tune about this hate. "Jeff Davis was a white man, Abe Lincoln was a fool. Jeff Davis rode a white horse, Abe Lincoln rode a mule. " According to the great grandson who gave me this info, Paul K Baker, it was Nancy Beery who smoked a clay pipe with home grown tabacco in it. Paul also told me that Nancy use to like to tell ghost stories to the children. Nancy was a dear tiny little lady.

  Notes for HOLLAND H. BOYDSTON:
In Steve Verden's notes, he states that Holland H. Boydston is listed in "Faubion and Allied Families" as a child of Thomas Henry Boydston, son of James Nichols Boydston, and that the book shows Holland born before the couple was married.

Steve notes that my files do not show this, but show a Harvey, which is too young to be Holland.

I am nearly certain that the information on this family group and Holland being a son of James Nichols Boydston (rather than Thomas Henry Boydston) came from Ruth Walton of Salem, OR, but do not know her sources of information.

  Notes for ALTA BERDENA PRATHER:
Notes of Steve Verden: Alta was age 10 when she became pianist at Faubion Chapel in Linden (Gladstone), MO. She gave piano concerts throughout northwest Missouri. She was a member of two garden clubs and an active Republican. For 10 years, she sold real estate for Emmett Reid Agency in Kansas City.
