ARTHUR WILLISON

Served in World War II; Master Sergeant; United States Air Force

I would like to mention some unsung heroes of W.W.II. My father, Harold E.
Willison, and my two grandfathers, Elmer Amos Willison and Jesse Harper
Kimmel.  All three were exempted from Military Service because they worked in
a vital industry, the oil fields.  There is a story in our family that my
grandfathers both cried when they were told they were needed more at home
than in the service. I know from family stories that all three worked 12 to
15 hours daily to do their part.  My uncle Arthur Willison was a M/Sgt. in
the Air Force , and my uncle Kenneth Kimmel was a Private in the Army.  My
husband's family had four sons in the Indiana Volunteers with one of them
winning the Congressional Medal of Honor.  My g.grandfather Kimmel and five
of his brothers all enlisted in the 71st Ohio Vol. on the same day. Am very
proud of all these men.
