Jacob W. Rosinski, born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, moved to Isadore, Leelanau County, Michigan around 1874-75, with his father Jacob W. Rosinski, Sr. and family. The 1880 census shows Jacob Jr. being age 7, born in Wisconsin, his brother Frank age 6 being born in Wisconsin and his sister Agnes, age 2, being born in Michigan.

Isadore, Michigan a portion of Centerville Township was centered around the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. The Church originally constructed of wood, around 1883 and a Catholic School was erected in 1884. Originally Isadore was called Four Corners, when a Post Office was established in 1890, it was renamed Isadore, in honor of the Polish farmer's patron saint. The original Church was torn down and rebuilt in 1922. The Church and School were across the road from the Rosinski Farm and Jacob's children attended school there, up through the 8^th grade.

Jacob raised cattle, operated a general store, a blacksmith shop, a livery and when automobiles came into the area he operated gasoline pumps, outside the store. Jacob was Isadore's Postmaster in 1892 and served as Postmaster for 14 years. The Post Office was discontinued in favor of rural delivery from Cedar, Michigan in 1912. He served as Centerville Township Officer, Justice of the Peace and Leelanau County Road Commissioner.

In February of 1897 Jacob was deeded the family farm of 140 acres under the following conditions:

The second party can not sell any of the above land as long as any one of the first party living.

The second party has a perfect right forever to half of the house building half of the barn building and free entrance in and out to the yard and free water now on the North East quarter of the North East quarter section Thirty-two Township Twenty nine North of Range Twelve West.

The 1900 census indicated that Jacob Jr. was employed as a merchant and livery. He was renting a portion of his father's dwelling. Both Jacob and Belle could read, write and speak English.

Then in March of 1909, Jacob purchased an additional 40 acres from his wife's brother Joseph Gatzke across the road from the 140-acre Rosinski family farm. He purchased this 40 acres for $1,050.00 and the following condition:

"that Michael Gatzke Sr. and Konstancia Gatzke his wife are to have off the above land as much wood for free as they need each and every year providing as long as it will last."

The 1910 Federal census indicated Jacob Jr. was a farmer, owned his farm with a mortgage. By 1910, Belle had six children all of who were living.

Mary S. (Rosinski) Beckwith, oldest daughter of Jacob and Balbina, has told the story about the whole time she was growing up on the farm she remembers the smell of stumps burning in the air. She went on to say that the boys would go out in the fields to burn stumps with a container of buttermilk and several potatoes. They would but the container of buttermilk in the spring to keep it cool and put the potatoes in the coals from the burning stumps and that would be their lunch for the day.

On August 9, 1919, Belle tried to commit Jacob to the Traverse City State Hospital for alleged insanity based on " he has violent fits of temper, talks irrationally and on several occasion has threatened to take his life", but a Dr. Fred E. Murphy findings were "He is not insane". The Probate papers for this indicated Jacob had an estate worth three thousand dollars. The list of nearest kin on the Probate papers include the following⁵:

Again on March 3, 1922, Belle tried to commit Jacob to the Traverse City State Hospital for alleged insanity based on he "has violent fits of temper and at such times threatens to kill his family". This time, after testimony from 2 Doctors and family, a jury of 12 people found him to be not insane. The Probate papers for this indicated Jacob had an estate consisting of 120 acres. John Beckwith, grandson of Jacob and Balbina Rosinski, remembers that Jacob really did not like farming, he would rather be tinkering in the shop than farm. One of his claims to fame was a thresher for navy beans. At the time the threshers then in use would break too many of the beans while threshing, Jacob developed a thresher that reduced the amount of navy beans broken during this process. After developing this thresher Jacob went around to other farms in the area and with his thresher harvested their navy beans.

Jacob died 31 July 1948 and is buried beside his wife, Belle in Mount Calvary Cemetery, in Isadore, Leelanau County, Michigan. Jacob was survived by two brothers Frank X and Michael, both living in Cedar, Michigan, two sisters Mrs. Katherine Brzezinski and Mrs. Josephine Waclawski both living in Cedar, Michigan.

According to the 1900 Federal census, Balbina (Belle) M. (Gatzke) Rosinski, born in Danzing, West Prussia. Danzing, West Prussia is present day Gdansk, Poland. In 1881, Belle age 6 immigrated to the United States with her father and mother's family.

According to Anastasia Rosinski the Gatzke's left Zlotow in the Province of Pila, Poland some time after Ignatius was born in 1880. In this time period Zlotow was in West Prussia and was named Flatow by the Prussian.

Family oral history says the family being of Polish descent, did not want their sons fighting in the Kaiser's (Prussian) Army. They went on to say at one time they tore down their house and hid in the woods with the lumber until the Kaiser's Army went through their area.
