Vol III, pp 47 CLARENCE FORBES NORMENT, Jr., born April 6, 1897, was the son of Clarence Forbes and Elizabeth Ann (Smith) Norment, the former a native of Washington and prominent banker, and the latter a native of Suffolk, Virginia (see a preceding biography). Mr. Norment, Jr., attended the Friends' School in Washington and, later, graduated from the Washington Collegiate School. He then attended Lafayette College at Easton, Pennsylvania, of which institution he is a member of Theta Delta Chi Fraternity. On the completion of his scholastic courses Mr. Norment entered the real estate business. He is, as stated, secretary-treasurer of the Norment, Smith and Fuller Company, Incorporated, real estate and insurance brokers; secretary-treasurer of the Liberty Realty Company, Incorporated; secretary of the Norfolk and Washington Steamboat Company; director in the National Bank of Washington, and a member of the Washington Real Estate Board. During the World War Mr. Norment was with the United Naval Reserve Force. Very fond of all outdoor sports, Mr. Norment is an active member of the Chevy Chase Club, of Chevy Chase, Maryland; also chairman of the tennis committee and member of the board of governors of the Nantucket Yacht Club, Nantucket, Massachusetts. On August 31, 1918, Mr. Norment was married at Hotel Chatham, New York City, to Margaret Polley, of Buffalo, New York, the daughter of Cyrus Hamilton and Maude (Macpherson) Polley. Mr. and Mrs. Norment are the parents of two children, as follows: 1. Clarence Forbes (3), born November 25, 1923, 2. Polly, born June 16, 1926.
