| About Our Family Research |
|
A team of three researchers has worked since 1996 to compile the most extensive genealogy yet published on Blackleach/Blackledge/Blacklidge families in America. You can find more information on this project at http://www.blackledgebook.org/
Approximately 90% of all Blackledge/Blacklidge surnames and descendants in the United States derive from one of four primary progenitor lines dating back to the early 17th and 18th centuries. Chapters provide lines of: John Blackleach, Phillip Blacklidg, William Blackledge, and Zachariah Blackledge This work represents the compilers’ impressive collaboration with numerous contributors, both genealogists and descendants. The reader will find bibliographical notations throughout to support and authenticate the research. The work includes derivation of the name, English roots, and Blythe Hall – the Blackledge ancestral home. Numerous family stories of interest have been provided by descendants.
