The Family Of Tillman Arthur Blizzard

This is the heritage of Tillman and his parents; Purvis Blizzard, Sr. 1910-1985 and Nettie Pool 1908-1984; parent's of Purvis Grady Jr, 1936-1992, Tillman 1938-2008, Brenda 1944-1975; and Anita Blizzard, of royal descent through Nettie Pool and her grandmother Tirzah Gunter. Tillman's Blizzard and Pool ancestors were in South Carolina in the mid 1700's during the Revolutionary War, but many ancestors came from Virginia and North Carolina.

Thomas Blizard in Darlington District, South Carolina of unknown parents, is listed in a 1794 petition along with Howel and Purvis. Purvis is a form of Purvez in India, and Gandy is Ghandi, evidence the extended family came from India, as well as Tillman's DNA origins. His Y-DNA is G2a3b1 of ancestors who went from India to Romania according to Family Tree DNA; but no one really knows when they came to America.

Thomas' son Jacob Blizard Sr, born about 1780 in Richland County, South Carolina, married Mary Gill, daughter of Valentine Gill, of Barnwell, also Native American. He married Elisabeth Levett born 20 Jan 1810 in Lenoir, NC, daughter of Henry and Leesy Levett (aka Lovett, Lovitt.) Volantine's son Pvt. James Thomas Blizzard married Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Lee, probably of Sumter, SC, where Valentine lived before moving to Fairfield County. Volantine's brother Jacob Blizard, Esq. was an attorney who later moved with his mother Mary Gill to Georgia. Blizzards were always well educated people. Of Purvis and Nettie's five grandchildren, four have college degrees. Including cousins, there are at least two doctors.

Their son James "Thomas" Arthur Blizzard and Theoxena "Locky" Spires were the parents of Lula Chrystal, Clifton Henry, Clayton Lestor, Sudie, and their youngest child, Purvis Grady Blizzard. Lula married Joseph Lucas; Clifton married Leila Mae Poole; Clayton married Rosa Lee Whetstone and Fannie Rish; Purvis married "Nettie" Pool. Purvis' children were Purvis Grady Blizzard, Jr.; Tillman Arthur Blizzard; Brenda Lee Blizzard Tindal; and Anita Blizzard Williamson.

  Tillman was the younger son of Purvis and Nettie Pool Blizzard of Aiken Co, South Carolina. His family tree descends from King of Cologne Clovis "the Riparian" in the fifth century. His royal descent is through his maternal great grandmother, Tirzah Gunter who married Tilman Pool. Tirzah is also his maternal line which tested Haplogroup H11 mt-DNA.   Tillman's maternal DNA map shows his mt-DNA migrated from Turkey to Albania where H and V mt-DNA branched off and went to Finland, however, most women in the Barnwell, Orangeburg area came from Sweden.
