About Our Family Research


This is the Homepage of the Blick family relating to Thomas Blick (1802-1860)from the Gloucesthershire area of England. Thomas Blick emigrated to New Zealand with wife Hannah and seven children on the ship "Indus" arriving early 1843.

Thomas Blick married Hannah Gay in 8th July 1822 in Minchinhampton, Gloucestershire, England.

They had seven children, George (1823), Enoch (1824), Charles(1826), Hannah(1829), William (1832), James(1837) and Benjamin(1840).

Thomas Blick and his family settled in the Brook Valley of Nelson and Thomas started a successful weaving business.

    Hannah Gay married Thomas Blick in 1822 in England and came to New Zealand with her husband and seven children in 1842.

    Caroline Ives married Enoch Blick. She was the daughter of William and Elizabeth Ives. Caroline came with her family to New Zealand on the ship "Sir Charles Forbes".

    Thomas was born in 1802 in Gloucestershire, England. Married Hannah Gay in 1822 in Minchinhampton. In 1842 Thomas & Hannah and thier seven children came to Nelson, New Zealand onboard the Indus. Thomas set up a successful weaving business in Nelson. He passed on in 1860 and his wife sold his business to his childhood friend and fellow weaver, Jospeh Webley.

    Jesse Blick was the son of Enoch ad Caroline Blick, he was born in Rapaura. Jesse married Hannah Wiblin. They farmed in St Leonards Road, Marlborough.

    James Blick was the oldest son of Enoch and Caroline Blick. James was born in Nelson. He married Margaret Barclay and adopted her children from her first marriage.

    Hannah Blick married Joseph Stewart. Hannah was a founding member of the Baptist church in Nelson, New Zealand.

    Enoch Blick came to Nelson with his family on the "Indus". Married Caroline Ives. Moved first to the Waikokaho and then later to Rapaura where he settled with his eleven children to found the Marlborough Blick families.

    Goerge Blick married Harriet Brown, they were believed to live in Bronte Street in Central Nelson.
