About Our Family Research


This is my family. I was adopted in 1942. Josias Brown, 1744, appears on the DAR Patriot List. The John Murrie Family was from Russell, Newport Twp. Lake Co. Illinois. born at Pershire, Scotland. James Scott was from England. James Miller, Ohio, relocated to Boone Co. Iowa. Norton Benjamin Brunning, born to Benjamin Brunning, Canada, Vermont, Wisconsin and Boone Co. Iowa. The Gustafson family, Sweden to Ellis Island then to Boone Co. and Kossuth Co.Iowa, and back to Boone,Iowa. Most credits for the genealogical finds goes to my Aunt Mabel Gross, who I found first and she steered me on to the rest of them, my Uncle Paul Randall Brunning, my Uncle Dale Brunning, my brother, Randy Brunning, Sister in Law, Sandy Brunning, and Marilyn Reed Jones, a grandaughter of Mae Brown, whose correspondence, pictures, and recollections have proven invaluable to my research. But I could not have done any of this without internet help from my cousins Nancy Eggers, who I learned everything I know about the Scott, Miller Families. Susan Murrie MacDonald, Liz Smith, Jane Carson Topoly, who sent a complete Rtf File on the Decendents of William Brown, and Cherie Atkinson Clark, Shawn Dunham, Ruth Roadinger, Jeanne Lee Cunningham, Phyllis Bush. Also to Joanna Peet Myatt, whose Roots Web Gedcom helped me corroborate information about the Brown Family, a very important tool. I recently received an E-Mail from Mike Brown, a Missionary in Bolivia, a direct decendent of Josias Brown, 1803, and his son Benjamin W. Brown. I heard recently from Wilma Atkinson Engelhardt, her research and family trees have helped me find more things I didn't know. I've recently been in contact with Martha McMunn, a decendent of Elijah Brown, One of Josias Brown's (1744) sons. I heard from Janice Brown O'Brien, a descendent of John A. Brown, son of Alexander Brown, Janice continues to send me many family archives. And Kasi Russell. Also Rhonda Dennis, Marilyn Reed Jones' Daughter, and is related to all of the Browns that I am. I had lunch with John Ogden who is a decendent of James Brister, and the Daileys. Also heard from Joan McClelland, a decendent of John Brown. Joseph Marion Bennett sent some wonderful pictures of the Miller and Bennett Families. Katherine Moore sent her book "Dailey's." Donald Stumbo, the Stumbo Family Expert, furnished me with a lot of information, places and dates, that I used in compiling my research. John Furrer, whose wife, Carol is a decendent of John Dailey Brown, recently sent me 25 pages of those decendents. A Miller decendent, from Nancy Miller. Mike Thompson, uploaded the Iowa Roots Family on the family tree Portion of Family Trees. Carla Kettell whose husband is a descendent of Rebecca Miller Sparks, sent Cemeteries. I got a lot of information from Carolyn Westberry, a descendent of the sister of Sarah Ferrel Drum Brown. Mary Kanable, a decendent of John Murrie. She added several pictures.She also added her brother Roger as a member. Debbie Drawson, Benjamin Elmer Brown's GG Daughter, he's also my Great Uncle. She sent a lot of information about her GG Mother, Clara Bouret and her Charbonneau connection to Sacajewea. My cousin, Roy Gustafson. Margareta Thorrson, Ingatorp, Sweden. Sue Larson, who sent a 1895 census of Boone County, Iowa. Twila Ingham, Alyce Madison, Philip James, Laurie Wilburg, Linda Chandler, John Curtis, Pam Wagner, Tina Keister, Joan Leber, Sandi Oviate, Wendell Stream, Michelle McHenry, Laurey Keiser, John Curtis, Carolyn K. Filer, Vicky Dyer, Eileen Brudwick, Diane Lovell, Sandi Hirt, Janet Downing, Christina Otey, Kim Whetsell, Bob Lawson and Mary Halley sent information and pictures. This is always a work in progress.
