• William Jackson Hamer (Uncle Billy Hamer) (30 KB)
  According to the Hamer book "John Hick Hamer of Anson North Carolina" compiled by Flora Janie Hooker in Ernest Pope Boland's possession, Billy had a son named Nolon. Sarah Jane "Sallie" Anthony wrote about him in a letter she sent to the compiler of the Hamer book. In his latter years, Billy lived in Columbus with Nolon.[John Hamer Bladen County, N.C..FTW] Uncle Billy was wounded in both legs during the Civil War. He also lost the sight in one eye, and had a lot of trouble from these wounds the rest of his life. He applied for a pension in 1903 and received it. He received his pension from the State of Georgia through the year of 1907, and I guess until his death in 1930.
