 Includes NotesNotes for George Faber:
Parts taken from George Faber's obituary

He came to America in 1849. He went to California with Florian Linenfelser and did labor work with the pick and shovel and after accumulating several thousand dollars. They came to Chaska in 1857 and engaged in general merchandise business as partners.
Mr Faber was a man of firm convictions and sturdy character, and left an imprint on the affairs of the county that time will not soon efface--Honest, industrious, sober, and always on the side of "Right." his example is worthy of emulation--"An honest man is the noblest work of God." The confidence and esteem in which he was held was shown by the large concourse of friends who followed his remains to their resting place. A good man has gone from among us--a man who lived up to his convictions, and died respected and beloved by all. He left a competency for his family but better than that, he leaves behind him a reputation for upright dealing and sterling worth which is "Better than grandeur, better than gold,--Than rank and title--a thousand fold."
More details were written up about the following items:
1. Went through a boat wreck on the Atlantic coming over in 1852.
2. Went to Chaska when the town was first being setup.
3. A charter member of the Guardian angel's Church in chaska.
4. Got involved in politics at time Minnesota became a state in 1858.
5. Worked on getting a road from Chasla to Bloomington in 1865.
6. Became some what involved in the Indian uprising in 1863.
A typed four and a half page memo was written about this man and his life of which there are many, many stories. If anyone is interested in this they can contact me, Joseph W Boland who is privileged to have received a copy from Jim Faber via my cousin Arlene (Donlon) Moran.
