From this union he raised a family of 6 children. He was called back into service during the Korean War, assigned to the same ship and same cabin. After the War he returned home with his family who had been stationed in Naples, Italy and again resumed school, completing his degree in Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri in 1959. After post-graduate training and Board Certification in Family Medicine he began a long and successful career in southeast Dallas. He retired from the office he began practice after 37 years in 1997. He later remarried some years after the death of Pauline to Deborah Ferguson.
