Ralph, Peter, Paul, May, and John were all children of Elizabeth Bozeman of
Edgecombe County, North Carolina. The four brothers all later appear in
South Carolina and are said to be the children of Mordicai Bozeman. While
Edgecombe County court records indicate that the children were "base
begotten", other indications are that they were the children of Mordicai.
While it is possible that they are somehow related to Harmon Bozeman, I
think it is far more likely that they are descended from Ralph Bozeman of
Isle of Wight County, Virginia. But, who knows, maybe Ralph of IOW and
Harmon of Charles City are related.
The Ralph Bozeman you mentioned was apparently quite a character. He was
bound to learn the trade of a seaman at the age of 16. He fought in the
revolutionary war in South Carolina. He apparently had a family in the
Charleston area in about 1800. He later married a widow in Houston County,
Georgia when he was 78 years old. They then move to Florida where he
appears in the 1840 and 1850 censuses. He died sometime after 1850 and was
over 100 years old.
