Subject: [BOZEMAN-L] Early Bozeman's
Date: Fri, 03 Apr 1998 23:07:23 -0500

Helo Everyone,

I was in Knoxville, TN a couple of weeks ago and visited the Historical
Library there. I only had about three hours so I wasn't able to do
much. However, I did take a quick look at a file of Bozeman newspaper
clipping which might be of interest to any of our Bozeman researchers
who are descended from the Knoxville Bozeman's. Mostly obituaries, some
of which dated back to 1950 or so.

I found a couple of Halifax County, North Carolina land entries for
early Bozeman's which may be of interest to those of us who are focused
on the early Bozeman's in Virginia and North Carolina.

If anyone has any other info on these Bozeman's please post it.

Thanks,
Steve

North Carolina Taxpayers, 1679-1790
Elizabeth Bozeman is listed as a taxpayer in Halifax County in 1783.

Halifax County North Carolina Land Entries 1778-1795
1039 (45) Jan 26, 1787 Thomas Hawkins enters 100 acres; border myself,
William Sales, Benjamin Hall, Joseph Eubanck, Richard Richards, &
William Boazman; paid L10 & 4/; warrant issued May 3, 1787; claim
withdrawn.

Halifax County North Carolina Land Entries 1778-1795
1147 (153) Nov. 13, 1787 Jos Eubanck enters 150 acres; border: Thomas
Hawkins, Elizabeth Boazman, Sarah Hargrave, Simon Jones, & Peter Callum;
all paid; warrant issued May 22, 1788

1216 (222) Sept 12, 1789 Dudley Hargrove enters 200 acres; between
Thomas Hawkins, Joseph Elbanck, Peter Cullam, Richard Richards, Sarah
Hargroves, & Eliza Boasman; "Cts" paid; warrant issued Apr. 9, 1790

Steve's Note: It would seem that William and Elizabeth lived on the
same parcel of land. Perhaps they were married. William Boazman would
have been born abt 1767 or earlier.

I have posted the following Southampton County, Virginia entries
previously but thought that I might post them again on the chance that
someone might be able to connect them.

Steve's Note: I wonder if the above William Boseman is the same as the
one who is in Halifax County a few years later in 1787.

Steve's Note: Howell Bosman is presumed to have been born before 1756 if
he was at least 16 years old when he witnessed the above will. Keep in
mind that he could have been born much earlier than 1756.
