Charles E. Bradbury III started tracing his family's genealogy in 1981, shortly after his grandmother, Helen Louise (Strout) Sperry died. For a few years a lot of data were gathered from many sources including Town Clerks, County Clerks, State Archives, National Archives, and the Morman Library in Salt Lake City Utah (a 2 day diversion while on a vacation to Yellowstone National Park). Charles wrote his own computer program to keep track of all the data gathered. In the course of gathering the data, Charles came across a book called "The Bradbury Memorial." It was published in 1890 and contained the collections of John Merrill Bradbury of Ipswich, Mass. It started with the first Bradbury to arrive in this country (Thomas, 1632) and listed all known descendants of him up until the late 1800's. Charles' goal was to connect with someone in this book so that the remaining ancestors could be derived from it. Charles had traced his family back to John T. Bradbury (b. 14 Jan 1840). John T. Bradbury's death certificate, obtained during a search of his Civil War records, indciated his father's name was Edwin Bradbury. This provided the link to the Bradbury Memorial #680. Although there is not more primary evidence, there are so many secondary and circumstantial facts that coincide that there is little doubt that John T. Bradbury's father was Edwin Bradbury (#680 in the Bradbury Memorial). For a recap of the facts leading to this conclusion see Edwin Bradbury's notes.

Charles E. Bradbury was born in Bangor, Maine. He attended schools there and went to the University of Maine in Orono. He graduated from the University of Maine with a Bachelors of Art in Mathematics in 1967. He immediately went into the Army (Basic Traing, AIT, and OCS) and having graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate was sent to Washington DC for a year with Combat Developments Command at Ft. Belvoir, VA. In 1969 he got his orders to Vietnam as an Advisor to the Vietnamese. He went to special cultural and Language school prior to going to Vietnam and was ultimately stationed at I-Corps Headquarters in Da Nang. He served one year, May 69 - Apr 70, in Vietnam. Upon his return, he got out of the Army and started to pursue a career in Data Processing with NCR corporation in Washington DC.

It was there he met Mary Glen Meagher. They married in Sep 1972 and lived in Silver Springs, Maryland and Manassas, Virginia (suburbs of Washington DC). Charles changed jobs twice in Washington. First to Colonial Parking then to Marriott Corporation. Charles and Mary Glen's first child , Charles Edward IV (CJ) , was born in Washington DC at Georgetown University Hospital. Charlie obtained his Masters Degree from American University in Management Information Systems in 1974. Marriott Corporation moved Charles and Mary Glen to San Jose, CA in Sep 1975 while working for the Theme Park Division. Daughter Anne Elliott, and son James Clayton, were born in San Jose, CA.

Next Charles took a job with California Vision Service in Sacramento in Oct 1980. Daughter Mary Margaret was born in Sacramento.

In Feb 1986 Charles took a job with BlueCross and BlueShield of Georgia. The family moved to Columbus Georgia in April 1986 where son Robert Wilton (Bobby) was born August 1986.

In September 1995 Charles moved to Maryland for a new job, Vice President of Information Technology, with BlueCross and BlueShield of Maryland.

In Sep of 2000 Charles and Mary Glen legally separated and in October Charles moved to Los Angeles, CA and took a position with Foundation Health Systems / Health Net as Vice President of I.S. Planning.
