- DESCENDENTS OF JOHANN GEORG BUFFENBARGER (57 KB)
This file contains over 200 names of the descendents of Johann Georg Buffenbarger of Ulmet near Kusel in the Rheinland Pfatz region of Germany; east of Luxembourg and south of Wiesbaden. The Buffenbargers traveled in 1733 aboard "The Pink Lady" from Germany to Philadelphia, Pa. and settled in the Tulpehocken Creek Valley south of Reading, Pa. Johann Jr. and son Peter later moved to Hardy County Virginia in 1740 and settled in what is now Petersburg, Grant County, WVa. named for the Peterson family from Switzerland via the Tulpehocken Valley. George Washington Buffenbarger married and moved from Va. to Madison Township, Clark County, Ohio in 1804. The family stayed in this area for many generations except Jesse who move to Berne, Adams County, Indiana in 1839.
