Sommer

No amount of words can express how devastated I was to lose every bit of information I had on this family on my computer. There is no telling whether any of my original resources will ever make their way into my hands again.

1Frank [Franz] Alexander Sommer was born in Altengottern, Germany as were his parents. I cannot recall his father's name. His mother, a Niedling, had several given names two of which were Johannes Luisa. She was also born in Altengottern. Frank Sommer was a trumpet player who came through Ellis Island to the U.S. near the end of the nineteenth century. It was said he had come from Erfurt but had studied at the music conservatory in Leipzig. He was naturalized as a U.S. citizen in Plymouth Co., Iowa. He married Lilly Jenny Oehlman and lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Kansas City, Kansas; and St. Louis, Missouri before settling in Waco, Texas. They had:
