In Loving Memory Of John A. Raffensparger

Aged 69, a retired signal maintainer for the Pennsylvania Railroad here, died at 8:30 a.m. yesterday at his home, 111 E. Hume Ave., Alexandria, Va., after a week's illness. He was born in Altoona, a son of Lloyd and Ida (Sherman) Raffensparger, and married Bessie Ramey. He retired in 1951 from the railroad service. Surviving are his wife, four children, Mrs. Nellie Shumaker, Mrs. Ruth E. Gority, John K. and Richard B., all of Alexandria; 15 grandchildren, and one brother, Daniel of Altoona. Friends are being received at the Cunningham Funeral Home, Alexandria. Died October 26, 1958.

She was cremated on 4-16-80 at El Encanto Crematory in Tucson, Arizona. Funeral Home was Valley Funeral Home at 2545 N. Tucson Blvd., Tucson, Arizona. She was a resident of

DANIEL B. RAFFENSPARGER Of 914 3rd Ave., died at 5:15 p.m. yesterday, Oct. 16, 1970, in Mercy Hospital. He was born May 23, 1883, in Altoona, the son of Lloyd and Ida (Sherman) Raffensparger, and married Regina Wilmore in 1906. Surviving are his wife, a son and daughter, Paul, at home, and Mrs. Dorothy Heisler of Altoona, two grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Diehl of Hollidaysburg and Mrs. Maude Mann of Dayton Ohio. Mr. Raffensparger was a retired contractor and painter. He was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church. Friends will be received in Books Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.

73, of St. Leonard's Home, 601 N. Montgomery St., Hollidaysurg, died at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 1981, in Mercy Hospital. He was born Aug. 31, 1907, in Altoona, the son of Daniel B. and Regina (Wilmore) Raffensparger. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Heisler of Altoona and two nieces. Mr. Raffensparger was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the I. Melvin Books Funeral Home.

RAFFENSPARGER - The funeral of Paul Raffensparger of St. Leonard's Home, Hollidaysburg, will be held with a mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Mark's Catholic Church. AUDE CECILIA RAFFENSPARGER:
Mrs. Maude Mann, 1503 Richard St., is very proud of her four sons in the armed forces. Staff Sgt. Charles Mann, the first son to enter the service, enlisted Sept. 18, 1936, and is stationed at Boston, Mass. with the Army Air Force. Previously he was located at Staunton, Va., and his wife, Mrs. Belva Hoover Mann, and daughter, Yvonne, are still living with her parents in Staunton, Va., for the duration of the was. Pfc. Roert Mann, who at present is enjoying a 15-day furlough with his family and friends, went into service July, 1942, and is with the field artillery at Fort Sill, okla. He was employed at NCR.

Pfc. Howard Mann is a member of the military police at Fort Dix, N.J. He was inducted Dec. 14, 1942, at which time he was employed at the Royal Bowling alleys, Dayton. Howard's wife, the former Reva Lykins, and their 18-month--old son, Thomas is residing with his mother.

The fourth son, Pvt. Jerry Mann entered the service Dec. 21, 1942. He is now in training with the army at Greenville, Pa. He formerly worked at a local meat market and his wife, Mrs. Betty Spohr Mann, lives at 1222 Springfield St.

Beulah 'Boots' (Mann) Woolis

Mrs. Beulah "Boots" (Mann) Woolis, 85, Eldorado, died Friday morning, Dec. 4, 1998, at the Altoona Hospital Center for Nursing Care, following an extended illness.

She was born Aug. 26, 1913, in Altoona, the daughter of the late P. Howard and Maude C. (Raffensparger) Mann. She married William A. Woolis Oct. 14, 1940, in Washington, D.C. He died Feb. 7, 1969.

Mrs. Woolis was a housewife. She was a member of the Blair County Genealogical Society and the Bedford County Historical Society.

Surviving are three sisters: Doris Headlee of Littleton, Col., Joyce Stemmler of Kettering, Ohio and Shirley Smith of Vandalia, Ohio; five brothers: Walter of Kettering, Charles of Staunton, Va., and Howard, Lewis and Stanley, all of Dayton, Ohio.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Warren H. Replogle Funeral Home.


WOOLIS-Services for Beulah "Boots" (Mann) Woolis of Eldorado will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Warren H. Replogle Funeral Home by Father Michael A. Singer. Interment in Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Warren H. Replogle Funeral Home. Mrs. Woolis was receded in death by three sisters: Jeanne, Mariam and Viola; two brothers: Robert and Gerald. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cripple Children's Society.
