Notes for FRANCIS G. GORITY: OBIT. G. Francis Gority Mr. Gority, 69, of 310 Pomery St., Blackshear, Ga., formerly of Altoona, died at 11:40 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, 1989, at Blackshear Hospital, following an extended illness. Known as Buss, Mr. Gority retired as a sergeant from the Army, after 20 years' service. He ws born Aug. 27, 1920, in Altoona, the son of James A. and Daisy (Holbert) Gority, and married Leola Sharp. Surviving are his wife and five children of Blackshear and several grandchildren. Also surviving are five brothers and sisters: James A. of Youngstown, Ohio; Betty Stillings of Fowler, Ohio; Virginia Novosel and Kay Fry of Altoona, and Martha Landis of Hollidaysburg. Interment was made in Blackshear. |

Notes for ROBERT D. GORITY: Died at age 16 of a brief illness. OBIT. Robert D. Gority Of 815 Third Avenue, a member of the senior class at Altoona High School, died suddenly at his home at 8:30 o'clock this morning, having been taken ill only last evening. He was born in Altoona on Oct. 9, 1929, a son of James A. and Daise (Halbert) Gority. Surviving are his parents and the following brothers and sisters: Glenn E. of the city, David P., in the army, James A., Jr., William C., Frances G., Mrs. Marian Jones, Mrs. Martha Landis, all of the city, Mrs. Virginia Arbogast, Betty and Kay, at the home. He was a member of the Second Avenue United Bretheren Church. Friends will be received at the home after noon Wednesday. Gority-The funeral of Robert D. Gority will be held at the home at 815 Third Avenue on Friday afternoon at 2:30 0'clock in charge of Rev. Max Hauser of the Second United Brethren Church with internment in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Friends are being received at the home. . |

Marriage Notes for GERALDINE GORITY and FRED HOLLEN: Marriage Record Hollen-Gority A quiet winter wedding was solemnized on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 11, at 4 o'clock in the Second Avenue United Brethren Church when Miss Geraldine Virginia Gority, daughter of Thomas E. Gority of 104 East Fourth Avenue, became the bride of Mr. Fred Guyer Hollen, son of Mr. Howard Hollen of Lakemont, with the bride's pastor, Rev. Dr. F.W. Davis, officiating and using the beautiful ring service in the presence of relatives and friends of the couple. The couple was attended by Miss Virginia Rockey and Mr. Jack Richardson. The bride was charmingly attired in a gown of silk and wool tulle in two-tone blue, poudre and light, carrying a royal blue muff upon which was fastened a corsage of gardenias and baby's breath. Her hat, colonial in style, was of royal blue velvet covered with a large blue fowing veil. Miss Rockey wore a dusty pink gown similar to the bride with wine accessories and a corsage of Talisman rosebuds and baby's breath. A reception was tendered the couple in the evening. Mr. Hollen has been employed by the Paragon Textile company for the past thirteen years while his bride is a graduate of the Altoona High school, class of 1937. Folling a short wedding trip, the newlyweds plan to reside in their newly furnished apartment, 2220 Eighth Avenue, this city. |
