Georg Bombach and his descendants

Georg Bombach arrived at Germantown,Pa. 03 December 1740,on the ship Samuel,Captain Percy--"natives and late inhabitants of the Palatinate upon the Rhine and places adjacent." He was listed in Lancaster County Pennsylvania December 21,1750 on a list of surveys for land. In the year 1769 he purchased one-third of a grist mill from Dewald(David)Wolff. It was located on Conoy creek. In the document it states:

In a Deed found in Northumberland County Pennsylvania, it mentions all the children and the spouses if they were married.
George Bombach b. 1717 in Germany... married Christiana.
Conrad Bumbach/later Bumbaugh b. 1751 in Middletown,Pa. He was a millwright, and established the first mill at Standing Stone, now Huntingdon Co.,Pa; located at Highspire, and in 1794 is Chief Burgess of Harrisburg,Pa., where he welcomed General George Washington in connection with the latter's activities in the "Whiskey Rebellion"; served in the Continental Army . Conrad Bombaugh--A true return of Capt. Samuel Cochran's company of the 4th Battilion, Col. Robert Elder, as it stood at Middletown Aug. 12, 1777, in the march to Phila. (Notes and Queries, Egle, 1897, pg. 55.) d. 04 Feb. 1821 (from DAR Patriot Index, Part I, Pg. 299)m/ Esther Zell. Was a Pvt. Ps. Pa.~He was Burgess in Harrisburg in 1794. Bought Seyfferts house for 9 lb. 6~ also bought part of Landis Mill for 20 pounds 6~ taken from "History of Dauphin County" on April 16, 1790.Pg 239. It also mentions a John Bomback, Pg 241.
Conrad and Esther had a son Abraham that married Catharine Rheem. Abraham was also politically involved in Dauphin county.
Conrad is a son of George and Christiana Bombach.
John Bumbaugh b.  Oct. 28,1763 in Northampton County, Pa. married Juli Ann Arndt daughter of Jacob and Catharina Arndt.
In the 1790 census I find John living in York county (which today would be in Adams county in the town of Arendtsville)with Juliann and 2 free white males under 16.
In the 1800 census of Adams Co. Franklin twp, he is listed as having 2 males under 10 and one under 16 and he is under 45. He also has one female under 10 and one under 45. So, this maybe proves what I have thought all along. That when Jacob, George and John came to Mifflin co., these were John and Juliana's sons. Then after John died Juliana came there to live.
John and George in 1818 came to town (Lewistown,Pa.Mifflin county) and opened a harness shop on Main street. (From "Mifflin County people in the News") They were saddle tree makers. A short time later some of the family purchased land on the turnpike to Mifflintown, at the upper end of the narrows. Jacob, who I believe is a brother to John and George, kept tavern in a stone house which stood against the mountain. It was later torn down and a frame house was built, which is also gone. At or near the place where Jacob kept tavern was the gate-house, built by the Turnpike Co. The gate-house is now in ruins but you can still see the remains. At least this was so in 1999 as we were there and got pictures.
Maria Catherine b. ? married Casper Shiffler(mentioned in a Deed where Christian King was selling Georg Bombach's property after he died) Maria Catherine was a daughter of Georg and Christina.
Mary Magdalene b. 26 Mar. 1768(probably in Lancaster or Northampton Co.) Married William Heime.
Margaret b. ? married Christian King but had died before the selling of Georg Bombach's property in 1787.
Catherine b. July 1761 and  married Abraham Throne. In 1787 they were living in York Co. Pa.

Maria Magdalene daughter of Geo. Bombach and wife christina, born March 26, 1776. Witness: Christina Muhlheim.
*What happened to Maria Magdalene? Don't find anything else on her.

Georg Bombach and wife Christina is the first Bombach of our line to come to America. He went to Northampton Co. where Johannes was born in 1763. He was in lancaster county by 1766 when he purchased property from Peter Wolff. He left a will in Northumberland Co. in 1780.

George Bumbaugh and wife Anna  in Greenwood township, Cumberland County who was a farmer, on April 9, 1803 sold for 500 lb. for 116 acres of ground situated near the Juniata river in Mifflin Co. He then sold two lots in Thompsontown, Greenwood township. George had bought these lots from William Thompson, June 02,1800. He later purchased one acre, Feb. 02, 1802 with houses, stables, ways, woods, watercourse rights and sold it to Benjamin Bonsall and son Jacob. George was born ca. 1789 and died 10 March 1851, buried in the First Methodist Church cemetery, Row X,#40. this cemetery lies along the Juniata river in Lewistown.( I have not got this clear yet who this is.) He is too old to be George father of our Jacob. He must be John Bumbaugh's brother. And son of Georg Bombach who had the Will in Northumberland Co. Pa. in 1780.His wife is also Anna as was George, son of John.
George Bumbaugh and Anna Drew are our direct line. They had the following children:
Juli ann b. 1824  married George W. Hess 25 Feb. 1845.
Rosanna b. 1829 in Mifflin Co. M/James Hollis of Indiana Co. 07/17/1850.
Jacob b. 15 Jul 1833   d. 27 May 1895 married Margaret Wagner
Maria b. 1836 died at the age of 16. 05/31/1852.

In the 1850  census of Mifflin Co. it shows:
George Bumbaugh  age 55, laborer
Ann                              50---maiden name Drew on Rosanna's death certificate.
Rosanna                       21---Married james Hollis in 1850 in Lewistown.
Jacob                          18---Married Margaret Wagner in 1857
Maria                           15--died at the age of 16.

Juli Ann had already married George Hess in 1845.

Jacob is our line and he served as a Pvt. in the Pa. Vol. Co."K", 131st from August 1862 to April 1863. He then re-enlisted in Co."B" 49th Pa. Vol. and was there until the war ended. He developed chronic diarrhea from exposure and hardship. And while on skirmish line on or about Nov. 9, 1863 at or near Hazel River,VA. in jumping a ditch he fell and injured his breast and back. He also contracted scurvy after 9 Nov 1863 but he couldn't give the exact date it made its appearance. He was in  the hospital at Camp Curtin in Harrisburg in March or April 1864 and sent to the hospital at York in April 1865. So, he must have been in the hospital at Camp Curtin for a year?

Jacob and Margaret were married by Rev. Clink in 1857 in Lewistown,Pa. In the 1860 census, they were still living in Mifflin Co. It shows:
Jacob M.Bumbaugh  age 26, laborer
Margaret                         20
Rosannah(who is later referred to as Maria) age 2
Henry                              12(who is this? to old to be theirs)
Wm McAllister                 55(and who is this?) laborer

While still living in Mifflin Co,Lewistown, they had the following children:
Maria  b. 03/16/1858  M/ ? Shaffer
Carrie b. 01/08/1860  M/? McWilliams
Albert Alexander b. 06/16/1862 M/1.Amanda ? divorced in 1888 (2)Sarah Melissa Hill in 1885
May  b. 01/16/1866  M/ Otis Hoover
Ethel E.  b. 04/07/1868  m/A.E.(Emery)Burns
Maude   b. 10/01/1870
Essie  b. 10/31/1871
George   b. 01/07/1874
William Roland b. 06/11/1876 M/ Anna Marie O' Brien
Charles  b. 01/04/1879
James Blaine  b. 10/15/1881

In the 1890 census Albert and Sarah are living in Hancock Co. Ohio
They had:
Ralph b. 04/18/1886
Locky Add b. 12/31/1887

Then Girrard Milton was b. 03 Sept. 1891
Then they went to Delaware Co. Muncie,In. and had George Harrison b. 02/12/1893(but he used the date 02/14/1893)
Marguerite b. 1895

Then in 1900 they are in Kosciusko Co. Warsaw,In. But had lived for a time in Fort Wayne as Girrard(Judd) talked about going to school in Fort Wayne as a young boy.

In 1888 in Lawrence Co. Pa. we found a divorce decree for Albert Alexander and Amanda Bumbaugh. Listed her next best friend as Ambrose Porter. This must be our Albert as the ages are right and he was from Lawrence Co. and his name was Albert Alexander. But if this is so, he was married to two women at the same time. And Ralph and Locky are not the children of Albert and Sarah.
