Surname: ARMENTOR, ROMERO

Romain Alfred de Armentor was born 2/28/1855, according to St. Martin Church records, Vol. 10, p. 50. According to Youngsville Church records, "Alfred de Armentor" married Elizabelle Romero [born 2/20/1856, daughter of Emile Romero and Elina Hulin; she died 7/3/1929], on 1/30/1872. My branch of the Armentor family came from Romain Alfred. Romain Alfred and Elizabelle Romero had many children, including: Fernest, Fernand, Helena (Elena), Jean Ferti, Fenelon (Minos' father), Frederic Charles [known as "Freddy", my grandfather], Eloi, Lorfils, and Ernest.

Be it known, that on this the 23rd day of December A.D. 1892, Before me Alcide LeBlanc, Clerk of the District Court Ex officio Recorder and Notary Public, duly commissioned and qualified in and for said Parish and State, and in presence of the witnesses hereinafter named and undersigned, Personally came and appeared Alfred De Armentor of Said Parish, who declared that for and in consideration of the price and sum of One Hundred and fifty dollars cash in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged he does hereby grant, bargain, transfer, return and deliver in full property unto Fernest De Armentor also of this Parish here present accepting, acquiring and purchasing for himself, his heirs and assigns and acknowledging delivery and possession thereof the following described property to wit: Ten horses, one mule, one mare, one wagon, and one house. It is agreed between the parties that the vendor reserves to himself the right to redeem the property herein conveyed at any time within one year from the date hereof, upon paying unto the purchaser the aforesaid sum of One Hundred and fifty dollars. Thus done and Passed at my office in Said Parish in presence of Messrs. George W. Summers and Gabriel LeBlanc, competent witnesses of said Parish, who have signed with the parties and one Notary, after due reading. The parties not knowing how to write made their marks.

Whereas there has been deposited in the GENERAL LAND OFFICE of the United States a CERTIFICATE of the Register of the Land Office at New Orleans, Louisiana, whereby it appears that, pursuant to the Act of Congress approved 20th May, 1862, "To secure Homesteads to actual settlers on the public domain", and the acts supplemental thereto, the claim of Alfred D. Armentor has been established and duly consummated in conformity to law for the south half of the north west quarter of section thirty three in township eleven south of range five east of Louisiana Meridian in Louisiana containing eighty-two acres and sixteen hundredths of an acre according to the Official Plat of the Survey of the said Land returned to the GENERAL LAND OFFICE by the SURVEYOR GENERAL.

Now know ye, That there is therefore granted by the UNITED STATES unto the said Alfred D. Armentor the tract of Land above described: TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said Land, with the appurtenances thereof, unto the said Alfred D. Armentor and to his heirs and assigns forever.

In testimony whereof I, Benjamin Harrison, President of the United States of America, have caused these letters to be made Patent, and the Seal of the General Land Office to be hereunto affixed.

Given under my hand, at the City of Washington, the ninth day of August, in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty nine, and of the Independence of the United States the one hundred and fourteenth.
