Joseph Fay (son of Gershom Fay, Jr) was born 1738 in Mystic, MA, and died 02 November 1777 in Albany, N.Y.. He married Lucy Warren.

Joseph Fay - "He was the progenitor of the Fay families of Walpole, N.H. He came from Mystic, Mass. and settled on land opposite the residence of John C. Emerson. When the call was made for men to serve their country in the great struggle for liberty and independence, he was among the number who volunteered to fight and die for liberty of coming generations."
The above note is from the "History of Walpole" by Aldrich. In February 1776, Mr. Fay was a Sergeant in Capt. Jason Wait's company of Col. Bedel's Regiment of N.H. Troops. From Nov. 8, 1776 til his death he was Ensign in Capt. John Greggs's Company of the 3rd New Hampshire Regiment. In the second battle of Stillwater, or Bemis' Heights, he was woulded in the thigh, and taken to the hospital at Albany, N.Y., where the leg was amputated, and he was thought to be recovering, but one night the ligatures slipped off the stumb. and he bled to death, Nov. 2, 1777.
His wife was Lucy Warren, said to have been a distant relative of Gen. Joseph Warren of Revolutionary War fame. She was a sister of Major Warren. Joseph Fay had seven children. The second child was Levi.
