1840 Census listed Benjamin F. Burgess living in Abington, MA as a male between 30 and 40 living with one female between 20 and 30. The census listed his occupation as manufacture and trade.

Benjamin Franklin Burgess is buried at the Hanover Central Burial Grounds in 1888 in Hanover, MA with his wife and nine of his eleven children. The plot, visited in October 1999, is marked with a small sandstone obelisk with the names of everyone inscribed. The marker is slowly eroding and the names will not be visible for many more years. The graves of Matilda's mother and father were included at the plot. According to cemetery remarks made by Abington historians, the bodies were removed by son Emory Burgess from the Mt. Vernon Central Cemetery in Abington to Emory Burgess plot in the Hanover Central Burial grounds.
