This is pure speculation. But, considering all the information that we have published so far on the Harvey Family, it may be time for us to sit back and look at it from different angles. Max Reed had done a fantastic job in bringing a lot of information to light. His research has brought out a lot of historical information on the family and many census records and has touched many families. We believe Thomas H Harvey's father was named John Harvey, or even Thomas Harvey. He was married twice and had two families. It is possible that his second wife had previously been married to a Harvey, possibly a brother of John Harvey, possibly a James Harvey. In the first group we will show two marriages, all children are John's. In the second group, we show what could possibly be John's first marriage and Elizabeth's first marriage as well as the marriage of John and Elizabeth.

All of this speculation demands more research on the 1830 and 1840 census records of MO and TN.

FIRST FAMILY OF JOHN HARVEY

John Harvey (Husband)
Adeline Adams (wife)

1. Thomas H. Harvey (Son) (1820)
2. (Unknown) Harvey (Son)

SECOND FAMILY OF JOHN HARVEY

John Harvey (Husband)
Elizabeth ______ (wife) (1808)

1. James Harvey (Son) (1826)
2. Joel Harvey (Son) (1828)
3. John Harvey (Son) (1830)
4. Bennet Harvey (Son) (1833)
5. Eirbee Harvey (Son) (1834)
6. Jane Harvey (Dau) (1839)
7. Pleasant Harvey (Son) (1845)
8. Jacob Harvey (Son) (1848)

The above right is from the census records. All of the children carry the last name Harvey. This means that their father was a Harvey. He could have been a brother or cousin of John Harvey. The first five child of the second family above are grouped together 1 to 3 years apart. There is a four year space between Eirbee and Jane, and a 6 year difference between Jane and Pleasant. Lets now look at the two families a little different.

By realigning the families a little different. Below we have John's first marriage and the marriage of his brother or cousin to Elizabeth. Then we have the marriage of John and Elizabeth. Could Elizabeth have been married previously to a Harvey before the marriage to John? Could the first four or five children be from that marriage? We find no mention of any of the children before Jane in any of our handed down history. We have always heard of Jane, Pleasant and Jacob. In fact some have said that Jane was a real sister to Thomas. I believe that the following is more fitting for the families, with Jane being part of John's first marriage, although she could be a daughter in any one of the following families. More research is due on this family.

The only records found to date with all the children is the census records after the death of John, as shown in the above right family, but without a husband. Still that does not rule out the following.

JOHN HARVEY's FIRST FAMILY

John Harvey
Wife: Adaline Adams

1. Son - Thomas H Harvey (1820)
2. Son - Unknown Harvey (------)
3. Son - Eirbee Harvey (1834)
4. Dau - Jane Harvey (1839)

JOHN HARVEY'S BROTHER'S FAMILY

Brother of John Harvey
Wife: Elizabeth _______ (1808)

1. Son - James Harvey (1826)
2. Son - Joel Harvey (1828)
3. Son - John Harvey (1830)
4. Son - Bennet Harvey (1833)

(second marriage for both
JOHN AND ELIZABETH)

John Harvey
wife: Elizabeth ______ (1808)

5. Son - Pleasant (1845)
6. Son - Jacob (1848)

When researching the 1840 and before census records for these families, the names Thomas, John and James should be checked. All three names could be used in any of the above cases.

Children of John Harvey and Adeline Adams are:
  1. +Thomas H. Harvey, b. 1826, Tennessee, d. 04 August 1900, Bonham, Fannin, Texas - Browns Cemetery.
